Memphis has played great so far this year. Riley Ferg and Lamar Miller and Co. have put up some impressive numbers in the air and look strong in the conference after their win over Navy...
Houston just got waxed at Tulsa... They struggled mightily against the Tulsa run game and just unraveled. Some cappers here on covers were pretty high on Tulsa coming into the year and they havent lived up to those expectations. Maybe Tulsa was just due for a big win or maybe Houston was caught in a lil look ahead to this game....
This is a huge conference game. Memphis win over Navy gives them the edge right now and a win over Houston would give them tie-breaker edge and put them in drivers seat...
But I dont think its gonna happen....
Just at face value, I can see why the public is all over Memphis... They just look better and are putting up better numbers. But when you dig deeper you can see some edges for Houston here.
Houston has a nasty defense. They rank 33rd in defensive S&P plus which will be highest ranked defense Memphis has seen. Memphis struggled a lil bit against an improving Navy pass defense, but Houston is much better than Navy at defending the pass. They have ball-hawking secondary that can make plays and a defensive line that can get pressure. Houston has struggled a bit against the run but Memphis doesnt attack that way. Containing Lamar Miller and putting pressure on Riley will be key... and I think Houston has the players to execute
Memphis defense isnt really stopping anybody, especially on the ground. This is what Houston does now. With Postma and Catalon, Houston can move the chains on the ground and pick their shots downfield with a couple big-play recievers.
I understand the hype for Memphis. They have played well but this is bad matchup for them. Revenge angle in play here as Memphis won on last second td last year at home. Also body-blow theory in full effect.... I forget the numbers but the week after playing Navy, teams have horrible record ATS.... Plus this game is in Houston on Thursday night....
Seems ripe for Houston to get some swag back. Memphis has a few turnovers that cost them late.

Thinkin UNDER a good play here too as Houston tries to limit memphis possessions with ground and pound.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYBODY
*PS
this is a ballsy play because most of what you see and hear will say Memphis is the pick. So dont play it unless you willing to risk going against everybody. No cryin in gambling lol

Should also note that Houston pass defense held down Texas Tech pretty good. Memphis wont be easy but i think the situation sets up nicely for Houston to get the Dubya

UCF held this memphis squad to 13 points. They rank 48th in defensive s&p..... Again.... Houston is 34th.... This will be best defense Memphis has seen. Good luck and Good Night

Houston is on my radar but I haven't had a chance to dig on this game yet as I have a bunch of others I am looking at- great information and you are right- Memphis is a bit of a public darling right now and Houston is flying under the radar after their big loss- I just wonder how the mindset is with this Houston squad-

big fan of your work man. thanx. lets get money!!!
FLUSH my brutha thanx a lot man!!!
Im likin the angles on this one guys.one more nugget...
the defense is averaging over 2 takeaways per game and they've gotten at least 1 interception in every game... 13 takeaways this year and 10 of those are interceptions. Riley gonna be slingin it all over but these guys can make plays back there. SMU and Texas Tech were contained pretty decently by them...... and two words

Memphis a little over valued by public after their win over Navy, and Houston's loss to Tulsa. The stats on Houston game last week shows that the game was much closer than score indicates. Cougars defense did get gashed on the ground, but was also set back due to numerous turnovers.. Nice motivational edge here at home for Cougs
