3. Most likely Oregon, but possibly Mich St
4. Best 1-loss SEC team (probably Auburn, but possibly the winner of Ol Miss / Miss St)
If Oregon can win the rest, they will be in... if not, Mich St can steal their spot by beating Ohio St.
Don't think Auburn will give away any more games like they did with Miss St, and Alabama just doesn't look good enough to win the Iron Bowl... that makes the Ol Miss / Miss St game very important, assuming Auburn can take care of Ol Miss and Georgia on the road...
Miss St needs to watch out for Arkansas next week... that is a dangerous game for them... luckily, they will have a bye week to prepare for it!
I just do NOT buy into this inconsistent Georgia team clearing their schedule without Gurley... not even sure they will get past Arkansas this week...
If Oregon and MSU both slip up, SEC could get 2 teams into the mix...
Give away games? Are you serious? You act like the only reason Miss. State won is because Auburn "gave it away". How about just give a little bit of credit that State outplayed Auburn and only allowed 23 points to what I consider to be a top 5 offense in the country?
In the last two years, Auburn has scored less than 30 points 4 times, with two of those games being against Miss. State (24&23). The other two were against LSU LY and Kansas State. Don't forget Mullen made a bone headed move with a fake punt, State's true freshman punt returner muffed a punt at their own 20, and Dak threw two INT's. Mississippi State committed 4 turnovers and still won by 15, but Auburn gave the game away. Give me a break.
And before you just call me a homer, let me also state this:
1. Do I think we are the #1 team in the country? No, I think we are a top 10 team but not #1.
2. Do I think we are going to the playoff? No, because I think we aren't going to win the West because we will lose to both Bama and Ole Piss. I think we match up pretty even with both of those teams but with the games being on the road, I have to realistically give the edge to both Bama and Ole Piss.
Also, we play Kentucky on 10/25, not Arkansas.
I think my top 4 would be:
1. FSU-Simply because they won't lose a game to a pretty mediocre conference. At least they scheduled Notre Dame.
2. Auburn/Ole Miss winner on 11/1- I think they are the two best teams in the West, but Ole Piss having NO running game and Bo Wallace at QB might catch up with them. I think Auburn is still a very good team, and if they win out, they are in.
3. Oklahoma/Baylor winner on 11/8- Think Baylor has better offense but their defense is obviously questionable giving up 58 points at home to anyone.
4. Michigan State-While I don't think the Big Ten is a strong conference, they won't lose again this season and IMO deserve to be in the playoff if they go undefeated in the Big Ten and their only loss being @ Oregon.
Outside Looking In: TCU/Oregon, Auburn/Ole Miss loser, Alabama
Good luck with your wagers the rest of the season, but to say Auburn gave the game away is ludicrous. I was at the game, and would be the 1st to tell you if Miss. State got lucky, but they didn't. They outplayed Auburn, plain and simple.
