Hello everyone,I have decided to embark on something alittle different for the rest of the season and will be attempting to complete a challenge. It would be really nice to get everyone onboard and behind me and maybe in the future this will spring some other challenges from other posters
There are two main reasons for doing this
The main reason being that however decent my record has been so far this year my money management has been horrible....I have made a decent profit which I have cashed out but need ALOT more discipline and to focus solely on placing single bets instead of parlays.
And secondly the support of the NHL forum here.
There really is a strong community here and I hope that having that little bit of encouragement when things arent going so well and just the support of you all in general will be a great help in actually achieving the discipline required to complete this challenge

If I am able to reach £5,000 without going broke and in a reasonable amount of time before the playoffs I will aim higher and adjust the goals accordingly.
I hope to have all of your support and hope this may inspire others who may also have discipline issues or enjoy a task,To take up a similar challenge.

Great idea, WP. However, this could be a classic case of something that sounds great on paper, but in practice, maybe not so great. As you said, discipline will be key to your success. I hope the community here will in some small measure, help you towards your goal. I'm sure we will be monitoring your success.

Yeah I know,Sometimes just alittle support goes a long way with staying focussed and keeping the bigger picture in mind....Worth a try regardless,I have made a decent profit this year and plan on spending some on myself as a treat...Thats why the challenge wont be starting straight away

i don't want to be rude but your goals are a blown out of proportion how in the earth can you expect 5x timing your initial bankroll with 10pounds a unit ?
if you'd gain 4k and get to 5k that means you would have to be +400units ... still thinking your goals are set as they should be ? believe me if you were capable of winning 400units on an nhl season - some bookmaker or financial institutions will hire you for a lot more than 4k per year ;)

no matter what.. best of luck
Thank you sir,I wasnt planning on using £10 units I was actually planning on using £50 units which I know is a very aggresive form of bankroll management but I am comftable with the risk and understand the risk of ruin...
I wont know my genuine chance of success until I try this out

This month alone I went from £100 > £3,400 in just over a week with parlays on NHL alone but I have since lost back £2,000 over the past few days leaving me with £1,300 which I have set aside to spend on myself...
Overall I have had a succesful start to the season but I can only realise my true profit amount if I start to play single bets and actually aim for something...Parlays I know are a fast way to ruin and maybe so is having a 20 bet bankroll but a 20 bet bankroll has a higher chance of winning considering my current season record than trebles or accumilator bets

I feel the same pain so I adjusted my # of units per play and played my favourites/confident picks. If there are 4 games on a Thursday, no need to scoff on 2 or more if the lines are ugly. Management and organisation for me in the NHL arrive weekly as opposed to my previous "What's on tonight?"
Parlays are sometimes as bad as chasing the late game when I'm sunk in the early games.
This is not a group therapy session nor am I stating new facts, I like the goal!!!

if all you're asking for is encouragement and support i'm sure the whole forum (including me) will be there for you,but money management is something you will have to learn mostly on your own. only advice i can give you is NEVER CHASE. Been gambling for about 26 years (sports and private undergound games) and i have learned that chasing is bad,bad news. Remember this...There is always tmmr so dont go broke all in one day because tmmr you wont have anything to gamble with. Not going broke means tmmr you will have a chance to recoup yesterdays losses and therefore surviving in the game long run. Hope all that makes sense.Good luck in this venture Puma.

Thank you all for the advice and input,Its very much appreciated and respected
I know 110% that the only one who can be responsible for my wagers and the amount is myself,It is only me who can practice good bankroll management.
It just really helps and is a comfort I guess to have people around you who can empathise when things dont go so well on a certain night and who make you see clearly...It is difficult to understand and respect others opinions unless they have been there and done it and live it on a regular basis.
The reason for the challenge is to keep things in perspective and have something to aim towards.
I would also love to hear any input from Metalica,Lippsman,Hookem,Rink Rat etc etc to see if they can add anything additional or their thoughts on it
Anyone here is MORE than welcome to come along for the ride,Its something that should be fun and everyone should have their own goal and target and we can hopefully give it a shot together!!

Stay away from those parlays too man. High risk high reward but that doesn't necessarily show how successful you are. I have been doing 2/3 unit plays lately and the ones I like more I do 5 unit. Limiting my 10 unit plays unless I REALLY like something.
