Bundesliga betting was back with a bang last weekend and the German soccer league continues its return from the COVID-19 shutdown with Matchday 27.
There are games scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and with just six points separating Bayern Munich, Borussia Monchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund in the table, this week’s slate is pivotal.

Hertha Berlin vs Union Berlin
This Friday’s Berlin derby features two teams headed in complete opposite directions, with host Hertha Berlin coming off an impressive 3-0 road win over Hoffenheim and Union Berlin suffering a 2-0 home setback to Bayern Munich. But Hertha Berlin have failed to win their previous six home games in league play while scoring just three times over that stretch.
There’s precious little separating the sides heading into the rematch of their November 2 tilt, which Hertha Berlin won 1-0. These clubs are only one point apart in the table, and two apart in goal differential. But the hosts looked sensational last week and it’s possible that the long layoff will be just what they needed to end their home woes. It’s certainly worth the gamble at an advantageous price.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs. Bayer Leverkusen
These teams wasted no time getting back to prime form in their return to action last weekend. Monchengladbach cruised to a 3-1 away victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, while Leverkusen barely broke a sweat in a 4-1 road triumph over Werder Bremen. Both sides can abuse opposing goalkeepers, so we feel confident in predicting a high-scoring game on Saturday.
However, sometimes the total play isn’t enough. We’re stacking the Over 3.5 goals with a road team win for a bountiful Bundesliga parlay. Leverkusen have shown better form than their Saturday opponent and will have vengeance on their minds following two consecutive one-goal losses in the head-to-head series. And with only one road team winning last week, it’s clear that the home-field edge hasn’t lost its luster.

Mainz 05 vs. RB Leipzig
The Bundesliga goal-scoring race might well be decided. Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich enters Matchday 27 with a five-tally advantage over Timo Werner of RB Leipzig. That won’t keep Werner from trying to make things interesting and he has a tasty matchup Sunday against a Mainz side that have allowed 55 goals - third-most in the league.
Werner had a subdued return to action last weekend, finishing with two shots (both on target) in an uninspiring 1-1 home draw with Freiburg. And he’s mired in a deep slump, with just one goal over his previous eight league matches. But he scored three times in his previous encounter with Mainz and he’s offering a solid payout on a repeat performance this week.
