Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is reportedly out the rest of the season with a back injury, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Romo suffered the injury during Sunday’s thrilling win over the Washington Redskins which kept Dallas in the playoff hunt. The Cowboys host the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17 with the winner taking the NFC East title and advancing to the playoffs.
Oddsmakers opened the Cowboys as 2.5-point home underdogs and that line has since jumped as high as +7.5. The total has moved from 56 to 52.5 points. Dallas is expected to start backup Kyle Orton. According to Mike Perry of Sportsbook.ag, Romo is worth around 4.5 points to the Cowboys' lines.
Romo told the media he would undergo a MRI on his back Sunday but didn’t believe the injury would keep him out of Week 17’s game. Romo has passed for 3,828 yards and 31 touchdowns with just 10 interceptions this season. He totaled 317 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in a 17-3 win in Philadelphia in Week 7.
