Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade has been suspended one game for kicking Charlotte Bobcats guard Ramon Sessions during Wednesday’s 105-92 road victory.
Wade will miss Miami’s road game in Detroit Friday night. The Heat opened as 8.5-point favorites but dropped as low as -6.5. The total for Friday’s game has dropped from 193.5 to 190.5.
Wade was caught giving Sessions a kick below the belt in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s game. Sessions approached Wade, who was bringing the ball over half and made contact. Wade kicked his leg in between the defenders legs and Sessions, who was whistled for the foul, crumpled to the floor in agony. Both players exchanged words following the incident.
Wade scored 29 points versus the Bobcats and is averaging 20.2 points and 4.6 assists on the season. His backup, shooting guard Ray Allen is nursing an injured shoulder and is listed as questionable for Friday, leaving Miami to possibly go big with either Shane Battier or Mike Miller in the starting five.
The Heat have won six straight games SU and ATS heading into Friday. Detroit has just three wins in its last 10 contests and has dropped seven in a row to Miami, posting a 4-3 mark against the spread in those contests.
