Christmas Day is about sharing gifts, spending time with family and betting on the NBA’s marquee matchups. With Dec. 25 less than two weeks away, oddsmakers are already sizing up the Christmas Day slate.
Sportsbook.ag has set look-ahead lines for the five games on the Xmas schedule, including a finals rematch between the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder and a East-versus-West showdown between the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers.
New York and Los Angeles preview their Christmas Day meeting Thursday when the Lakers travel to Madison Square Garden. Books have tagged L.A. as a 6.5-point road underdog for that game but expect a better effort from the Lakers at home on the holiday, setting them as 1.5-point favorites on Dec. 25.
“That Lakers game is very tricky and I could see the Knicks being the favorite, but the Lakers still get public support,” Peter Childs, an oddsmaker for Sportsbook.ag, told Covers. “And on Christmas Day at home, I think bettors would hammer them if they were a dog.”
Here’s a look at those early NBA Christmas Day spreads:
Boston Celtics at Brooklyn Nets (-3.5)
New York Knicks at Los Angeles Lakers (-1.5 – with Steve Nash out. Nash could be back in time)
Oklahoma City Thunder at Miami Heat (-3.5)
Houston Rockets at Chicago Bulls (-7.5)
Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Clippers (-8.5)
