Blackhawks' Stanley Cup odds reflect Game 1 winner trend

Jun 13, 2013 |
Series prices for the Stanley Cup final are on the move after a thrilling triple-overtime Game 1 Wednesday night.

The Chicago Blackhawks opened the series as -135 faves and, following their Game 1 victory, have moved to -240. The Boston Bruins are set as +200 underdogs.

Since the lockout which denied hockey fans the Stanley Cup in the 2004-05 season, the winner of Game 1 has gone on to win the Cup five times out of seven.

Only two teams have lost the opening game and gone on to battle back and lift the Cup at the end of the series. One of those teams was the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009. The other was, coincidentally, Boston in 2011. The Bruins dropped Game 1 to the Vancouver Canucks by a score of 1-0 and eventually won the Cup in seven games.

Game 2 in the series is slated for Saturday and Chicago is the favorite at -150 as of Thursday afternoon.
