World Series odds: Tigers faves despite Giants' home-field edge

Oct 23, 2012 |
The San Francisco Giants punched their ticket to the Fall Classic once again with a big win over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 7 of the NLCS Monday night.

The Giants, who won the World Series in 2010, will face the Detroit Tigers, who swept the New York Yankees to win the American League Pennant and return to the World Series for the first time since 2006.

Oddsmakers have tagged the rested Tigers as -160 favorites to win the World Series, with the Giants set at +140.

With the National League winning the MLB All-Star Game back in July, Game 1 goes Wednesday night in San Francisco. Detroit ace Justin Verlander and San Francisco veteran Barry Zito are the expected starters.
