We take a quick look around the NHL for all of Thursday's action:
Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins (-255, 5.5)
Probable starting goaltenders: Scott Clemmensen (FLA), Tuukka Rask (BOS)
Florida has dropped seven of eight contests (1-5-2) to fall into the basement of the Southeast Division. Panthers F Kris Versteeg sustained a lower-body injury after he was drilled by Lightning defenseman Radko Gudas Tuesday and requires season-ending surgery. The under is 5-1 in the last six meetings in Boston.
Pittsburgh Penguins at Toronto Maple Leafs (+123, 6)
Probable starting goaltenders: Marc-Andre Fleury (PIT), Ben Scrivens (TOR)
The Maple Leafs extended Pittsburgh to a shootout at home on Saturday but are mired in a season-high three-game winless streak (0-2-1) after dropping a 5-2 decision at Winnipeg on Tuesday. Toronto has allowed at least four goals in each of its last four games and six of seven. The over is 4-0 in the Maple Leafs’ last four home games.
Washington Capitals at Carolina Hurricanes (-160, 5.5)
Probable starting goaltenders: Michal Neuvirth (WSH), Dan Ellis (CAR)
Carolina has gone 3-1-0 since goaltender Cam Ward went down with a knee injury, while Washington has dropped three straight. The Capitals are banged up on defense with John Erskine (upper body) and Mike Green (groin) likely to remain out of the lineup Thursday. Carolina is 5-0 in its last five games vs. a team with a losing record.
Chicago Blackhawks at Columbus Blue Jackets (+149, 5.5)
Probable starting goaltenders: Corey Crawford (CHI), Sergei Bobrovsky (CBJ)
The Blackhawks have surrendered six goals in each of their back-to-back setbacks following a record 24-game point streak to open the season. Chicago has won 10 straight matchups with Columbus, but all three meetings this season have been decided by one goal. The Blue Jackets are 5-0-3 in their last eight overall.
New York Islanders at Tampa Bay Lightning (-121, 6)
Probable starting goaltenders: Evgeni Nabokov (NYI), Anders Lindback (TB)
New York had gained at least a point in five straight games (3-0-2) before dropping a 6-1 decision at Pittsburgh on Sunday. The Islanders have won five of their last seven against the Lightning, including a 4-3 victory on Jan. 21. Tampa captain Vincent Lecavalier is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. The over is 5-1 in the last six meetings.
New York Rangers at Winnipeg Jets (-104, 5)
Probable starting goaltenders: Henrik Lundqvist (NYR), Ondrej Pavelec (WPG)
Winnipeg won for the third time in four games (3-0-1), routing the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2 on Tuesday to improve to 8-3-1 in its last 12 contests. The Jets’ offense had been particularly anemic at home - scoring 10 goals in six games - before busting out against Toronto. The under is 7-1 in the Jets’ last eight home games.
Phoenix Coyotes at St. Louis Blues (-133, 5)
Probable starting goaltenders: Mike Smith (PHX), Jake Allen (STL)
After playing six of its last seven games at home, Phoenix enters a four-game road trip looking to improve on their 3-5-2 away record. The Coyotes were shut out 2-0 in Anaheim on March 6 and only have 22 goals in their 10 road games. Phoenix is 0-6 in its last six Thursday games.
Colorado Avalanche at Minnesota Wild (-140, 5)
Probable starting goaltenders: Semyon Varlamov (COL), Niklas Backstrom (MIN)
The Wild, who struggle on offense with an average of 2.24 goals, consistently play tight games with 10 of their last 15 contests decided by one goal and the other five by two. Colorado is 2-8-3 on the road and winless (0-4-3) in its last seven games since a 4-3 shootout victory at Minnesota on Feb. 14. The under is 4-0 in the Avalanche’s last four road games.
Anaheim Ducks at Dallas Stars (-110, 5)
Probable starting goaltenders: Jonas Hiller (ANH), Kari Lehtonen (DAL)
Corey Perry was handed a four-game suspension by the NHL on Wednesday for his high, late check on Minnesota rookie Jason Zucker. The loss of the former Hart Trophy winner may do little to slow down the Ducks, who skated to their fourth straight victory with a 2-1 triumph over the Wild on Tuesday. Anaheim has lost four in a row versus Dallas and the home team is 5-1 in the last six meetings.
Nashville Predators at Vancouver Canucks (-158, 5)
Probable starting goaltenders: Pekka Rinne (NSH), Roberto Luongo (VAN)
The Vancouver Canucks return home for four games with two wins in their last eight contests (2-4-2) and a tenuous hold on the Northwest Division lead. Nashville is 5-for-10 with the man advantage in its last three games, but has allowed at least one power-play goal in six of its last eight. Vancouver hasn’t scored a power-play goal in nine games. The over is 4-0-1 in the Canucks’ last five home games.
Los Angeles Kings at San Jose Sharks (-110, 5)
Probable starting goaltenders: Jonathan Quick (LA), Antti Niemi (SJ)
Jonathan Quick is 3-3-0 over his last six games, allowing at least four goals in each of the losses. San Jose has posted only two regulation wins in its last 20 games and the home team won five of the six meetings last season. The over is 6-1 in the Kings’ last seven overall.
