NFL betting: Reviewing Super Bowl XLVII props

Feb 4, 2013 |
It’s the day after Super Bowl XLVII and now it’s time to reflect on how you did with your props bets.

Let’s take a look at five props that you either loved or hated as a bettor.

Odds courtesy of the LVH.

1) Will there be a safety? Yes +900, No -1,300

The Ravens conceded a safety late in the fourth quarter much to the delight of bettors who selected “yes” for this prop. It paid out 8/1 at most shops. We haven’t heard of anyone who took it, but betting on the safety as the final scoring play Sunday would have paid 75/1. If you weren’t afraid of the juice on this one and took the “no” then you will be next year.

2) Will the game be decided by exactly three points? Yes +350, No-420

The late safety trimmed the Baltimore lead to three points late in the final quarter to help “Yes” bettors cash in on this prop.

3) Will Jacoby Jones score a TD? Yes +425, No-550

Jacoby Jones hauled in a TD pass and opened the second half with a bang when he returned a kick 108 yards to the house. That sucks if you thought he wouldn’t score.

4) Will Ed Reed intercept a pass? Yes +400, No-500

Reed picked off Colin Kaepernick in the second quarter, but the Ravens couldn’t turn it into points. Kudos to John Harbaugh for trying the first fake field goal in Super Bowl history, though.

5) Will Anquan Boldin score a TD in the first half? Yes +340, No-410

Boldin didn’t waste any time putting his bettors’ minds to rest on this one, hauling in a TD pass to open the scoring early in the first quarter.
