Covers member runs Streak Survivor wins to 18

Most 58-year-old women aren’t concerned about which way the sharps are moving that night’s basketball odds. But, then again, most 58-year-old women aren’t chasing down a $100,000 Grand Prize.

Judy Goins, better known as jgoins on the Community, has correctly called 18 straight games against the spread in Streak Survivor, one of Covers Contests' most popular handicapping games.

Goins started her incredible run with a play on LSU +10.5 versus Florida on February 20. The Tigers came through against the spread, losing 68-61 to the Gators, sparking a hot streak for the Tennessee native.

Goins continued to correctly pick ATS winners, leaning more on college basketball to build her count up to 18. She recently earned a $1,000 cash prize for correctly picking 17 straight games and is just three correct plays away from a $25,000 cash prize.

“I usually bet with the line moves if it is a lot or if it should move and doesn’t,” she told in an email this week.

Goins admits to not knowing a lot about sports in general or much of the terminology involved with sports betting. All of her picks have been either NBA or NCAA basketball action and each one has been a side, never an over/under play.

Her most recent pick was a play on the New Orleans Hornets -2.5 against the Houston Rockets Wednesday. The Hornets battled back after falling behind 38-21 in the first quarter and won 101-93.

“On some of these games on my streak, I was losing at some point but always pulled it out,” she said. “I had some close calls that came out OK.”

When asked what she planned to do with the $1,000 she won on pick No. 17, Goins said she would pay some bills and deposit some into a sportsbook account.

“Thanks again for the contests,” she said, “they really make life interesting.”
