Goaltenders the favorites to win NHL's Conn Smythe Trophy

Whichever team wins the Stanley Cup is going to do so thanks in big part to their goaltender, according to the odds to win the Conn Smythe Trophy – the NHL playoffs’ MVP award.

The goalies for the five remaining teams in the NHL playoffs – Washington, New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles and Phoenix – make up the favorites to win the Conn Smythe.

Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Quick is a +300 front-runner, followed by Phoenix’s Mike Smith (+500), Washington’s Braden Holtby (+600), New York’s Henrik Lundqvist (+600) and New Jersey’s Martin Brodeur (+700).

Among the notable skaters in the running for the Conn Smythe are Capitals sniper Alex Ovechkin (+1,200), Kings forwards Dustin Brown (+1,200) and Anze Kopitar (+1,200), Devils winger Ilya Kovalchuk (+1,200), Rangers center Brad Richards (+1,800) and Coyotes right wing Antoine Vermette (+1,800).

Los Angeles is a +200 favorite to win the Stanley Cup, after opening the postseason priced at +2,500 as a No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. New Jersey (+333), Phoenix (+400), New York (+450), and Washington (+700) all follow on the NHL futures board.
