NHL roundup: Blue Jackets give extensions to coaches
The Columbus Blue Jackets gave contract extensions to three of its assistant coaches and added Brad Larsen to head coach Todd Richards' staff on Monday.
Associate coach Craig Hartsburg, goaltending coach Ian Clark and development coach Chris Clark received multi-year extensions.
Richards signed an extension in May after the Blue Jackets went 43-32-7 and earned a spot in the playoffs this past season.
---The Washington Capitals promoted Ross Mahoney to assistant general manager.
Mahoney served as the team's director of amateur scouting for the past 16 years. In his new duties, he is responsible for assisting and advising new general manager Brian MacLellan in player-related matters. He will also oversee the team's developmental programs and its amateur scouting staff.
---The New York Islanders named Doug Weight as assistant general manager.
Weight, 43, served as a special advisor to general manager Garth Snow. He also will remain an assistant coach on head coach Jack Capuano's staff.
---The Edmonton Oilers agreed to terms on a two-year entry-level contract with winger Iiro Pakarinen.
Pakarinen, 22, had 20 goals, 10 assists and 32 penalty minutes in 60 games with HIFK Helsinki of Finland's Liiga this season.
