Eagles sign first-round LB Smith

The Philadelphia Eagles signed first-round linebacker Marcus Smith II to a four-year deal, the team announced Monday.

Smith was selected No. 26 overall from Louisville.

"It means everything," Smith said moments after signing. "I've been waiting on it for a long time, been wanting to sign my contract just to get everything over with. It just feels great to be an Eagle and have no worries and go on the field and do what I do best.

"When I put the pen to paper? The first person I think of is my mom. She did so many things for me and I just feel like I could go out and do something special for her."

The 6-foot-3, 251-pound Smith is expected to be a rotational pass rusher for the Eagles this season. He had 14.5 sacks in 2013.

All seven members of the Eagles' 2014 draft class are now signed.
