Texas Tech promotes Morris

Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal on Thursday that Eric Morris was promoted to offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.

Morris, 29, served as the Red Raiders' co-offensive coordinator and inside receivers coach last season. He will remain in charge of play-calling.

The promotion came after co-coordinator and outside receivers coach Sonny Cumbie left at the end of the season to take over as TCU's offensive coordinator.

"He did a tremendous job," Kingsbury said of Morris. "Having worked with him at the University of Houston, he was always up in the box giving information, helping call plays and seeing defenses, and that continued here.

"He does a tremendous job with techniques and fundamentals with the receivers. He's very valuable to what we accomplished on offense and has a big part in it."

Morris played collegiately at Texas Tech, graduating in 2008. Before returning as a Red Raiders assistant, he worked under Kevin Sumlin at Houston and Mike Leach at Washington State.
