Book says Fielder trade bumps up World Series odds
The blockbuster Prince Fielder - Ian Kinsler trade between the Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers has some books calling both teams winners when it come to their baseball futures, while other have the trade down as a push.Sportsbooks.ag
gave both teams a slight bump in odds to win the World Series.
"We think the trade helped both teams," Mike Perry of Sportsbook.ag told Covers. "So we moved the Tigers from 9/1 to 8/1 to win the World Series and the Rangers from 15/1 to 14/1."
At the LHV Superbook the odds to win the World Series stayed put, with the Tigers still having the best odds of any American League team to win the World Series at 8/1. While the Rangers are not too far behind at 14/1.
"We made no adjustments," Jeff Sherman, assistant manager at the LVH Superbook told Covers. "Our baseball guy said there's no obvious winner in the trade in his opinion and it could work out for both teams."
Fielder, who turns 30 in May, is a career .286 hitter, with 285 home runs and 807 RBIs. He gives the Rangers some added pop in their lineup after losing Mike Napoli and Josh Hamilton in 2012.
In eight full seasons in Texas, Kinsler hit .273 with 156 home runs and 539 RBIs and he immediately fills a hole at second base for the Tigers since Omar Infante left as a free agent.
