Television producer pleads guilty in sports betting case

Bryan Zuriff, a 44-year-old producer of the Showtime tv series "Ray Donovan", has pleaded guilty to his role in an illegal sports gambling ring, according to Bloomberg.com.

Zuriff could serve as many as five years in prison and was the first defendant to plead guilty in the case. He operated his own "illegal gambling enterprise" in L.A. and assisted in operations of gambling rings in New York.

An excerpt from the Bloomberg piece reads:

34 members of the network, allegedly including members of two Russian-American organized crime bands, have already been indicted.

Now the media will report on how much of a menace to society he is and compare gambling like it was the heroin epedemic. You know the story how familes get destroyed communities ruined. US govt just wants a piece of the action so rich politicans can keep their mistresses happy, their yachts fueled up, and their swiss accounts flowing.
