Doc's Saturday MLB Free Play!
Saturday MLB Free Play from Doc’s Sports Take #907 Milwaukee Brewers over St. Louis Cardinals (Saturday, 7:15pm EST) The Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals are in the midst of a huge series as they battle for first place in the NL Central. The Brewers have been one of the biggest stories of the 2014 season as they have maintained the top spot in the division for virtually the entire campaign. After 110 games into the season, it’s safe to say that the Brewers are no fluke. They have a well-balanced team without any major weaknesses and they’ve withstood the pressure of keeping the top spot. Kyle Lohse gets the ball for Milwaukee in this one. The veteran right-hander has put together one of his best seasons of his career as he checks in at 11-5 with a 3.07 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. Lohse is a gamer and I see him finishing strong as the Brewers look to secure a spot in the postseason. He’ll get a Cardinals lineup that has vastly underachieved this season. The Cards are 14th in the NL in runs scored, ahead of only the lowly Padres. They also just traded away one of their big bats in Allen Craig to bring in John Lackey. One of the other trades they made was to acquire Justin Masterson, who makes his debut in the National League today. Masterson has had a terrible season that was exacerbated by a recent knee injury. He enters the matchup with a 5.51 ERA and was equally as bad in his minor league rehab starts where he posted a 5.40 ERA. He also walked six batters in his last rehab start before being traded, which isn’t a good sign. It’s going to take Masterson some time to get back into form and adjust to a new league. As a result, I like the Brewers to get the win here. Football is back and Doc’s Sports has a selection from the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, OH. Doc’s Sports went 9-3 last year in the NFL Preseason so jump on board the victory train now!
