Canada missed out on revenue from $18 billion in sports betting

As Bill C290 sits in limbo in the Canadian Senate, the country is missing out on a lucrative revenue stream reports the Wall Street Journal.

As of Tuesday, the bill has been in the hands of the Senate for 469 days. In that time, Canadians have wagered an estimated $18 billion in illegal sports-betting. This is something that could be rectified and capitalized on if the Senators approve the bill, which seeks to legalize single-game wagering in the country.

From the Wall Street Journal:

As it stands now, Canadians can legally make parlay bets on two or more sporting events depending on which province they live in.

Ok, House of Commons is separate entity of Senate, so hopefully we have a wee bit o time left. However, the hush hush state of late is not that great of a sign that gives us much hope. fcking shame. hope that Wall street Journal snippet gets into the right hands and opens some eyes. Fingers crossed, best we can co at this point, fcking politicians, old and useless ones at that, just don't have a clue. frustrating to say the least. If the general masses new of the 18 billion in possilbe tax revenue left on the table, think they would want sorts' betting legalized, I am going to go out no not so much of a limb here and say yes. Agree or disagree fellas.

I agree. Sorry I didn't get back sooner, working midnights and my sleep is screwy. We have to get this done before the 28th, because they are off for 10-11 weeks for the summer.

I'd still continue to wager online only because I know games would probably be juiced at 30%+

True, but I don't think they would respond as quick to the market. Might find some good value on games where there are key injuries.
