Odds against 'Man of Steel' to out super 'Iron Man 3' at the box office
It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s a solid wager to become the highest-grossing film of 2013!
It doesn’t have the same ring to it as the well-known Superman cheer, unless you’re holding a ticket on Man of Steel
to become the big box office winner this summer.
Oddsmakers at PaddyPower.com have Zack Snyder’s re-imagining of Superman, which opens today, at +162 to earn the title of 2013’s highest-grossing film behind fellow superhero flick Iron Man 3
(-350), which has already raked in an estimated $1,197,907,000 worldwide.William Hill books in the UK also had some fun with Man of Steel
, most notably British star Henry Cavill (that’s right, Superman is an Englishman). They priced Cavill starring in the sequel before 2020 at -300 and not staring at +225.
Cavill is also on the oddsmakers’ short list for possible James Bond replacements, whenever Daniel Craig is ready to hang up his martini. William Hill has moved Cavill from +1,000 to +2,000 since winning the role in Man of Steel
