Duke forward sidelined ahead of clash with NC State
Duke will be without one of its top players Saturday for a key clash at NC State.
Forward Ryan Kelly suffered a right foot injury during the Blue Devils’ 68-40 rout of Clemson Tuesday night and there is no timetable for his return.
Kelly is averaging 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game and has scored in double figures in 13 of Duke’s 15 contests.
Despite his impressive offensive numbers, Kelly is also a key cog for the Blue Devils on defense. Opponents are shooting just 22 percent against the senior and he ranks third in the country in fewest points allowed per play (0.53) behind San Diego State’s Jamaal Franklin and Missouri’s Phil Pressey.
Junior forward Josh Hairston, who averages 1.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game, is the most likely player to fill Kelly's minutes.
Odds have not yet been released for Saturday’s game.
