Heisman odds: Manziel the clear-cut favorite

If Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel does become the first freshman ever to win the Heisman on Dec. 8, he can look to the Aggies’ 29-24 victory over Alabama as the day that cemented his place in history.

Manziel has moved from a -500 to -600 favorite since Sunday, with Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o and Kansas State’s Collin Klein lurking in the shadows with the next best odds to be selected as this year’s award winner.

Here’s a look at the updated 2012 Heisman Trophy odds:

Johnny Manziel -1250
Manti Te'o +450
Collin Klein +1400

It's an individual award so stats are what matter. Teo had a great year, and being on an undefeated team will give him a shot at the ultimate team prize which is what the team's record is about, but Manziel had a record breaking year stat-wise and, if team things matter, had the best win. Don't really see how Teo has a shot or the controversy.

Johnny played very well--but--Klein played very well --but---Te'o 's defense is unbeaten, Norte Dame is unbeaten--Norte Dame is a class act and Te'o is the one to represent this trophy--Johnny footballs' time will come .....

Paul Hornung won the Heisman in 1956. His ND team finished 2-8. Don't believe the trophy was ruined.

Shazier's stats may have been better, but that is b/c he has plenty more opportunities. OSUs defense was awful. Not even comparable stats. ND front seven was one of the best in the nation. OSU's was swiss cheese. Of course his stats are going to be better when RB's are hitting & wr's are hitting the second level every other play. ND hype? The kid was always in the right position, made critical plays in the most important games and was an important factor as to why ND is playing for a national title. How is that "hype". Go look at his game changing plays in the most important games ND played (And I don't even like ND!). I could care less if he wins it, but to say it is "hype" is absurd. The Kid shined all year when it mattered most.

stiffarmtrophy.com has successfully predicted the last 10 winners and I look forward to playing their prediction this year as well. If they're wrong, then It'll be their first loss and I'll wont lose sleep

Te'o's stats other than interceptions are not impressive. Actually, Shazier at Ohio State has better stats other than interceptions than Te'o. Shazier beats him on TFL, TD;s. forced fumbles, total tackles and sacks, Te's is just ND hype.
