Opening odds for BCS bowl game schedule

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Bowl season.

Teams are accepting invites to bowl games following the final day of the college football schedule, leaving bettors with nearly daily options on the NCAAF board during the holidays. Odds for those bowl games will begin to trickle out this week, but oddsmaker have already cooked up the spreads for the five big BCS bowl games.

Here’s a look at the BCS bowl matchups and the suggested odds, courtesy of Nevada-based odds service The Sports Club:

BCS Championship – January 6

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (+7.5, 45)

Fiesta Bowl – January 3

Kansas State Wildcats vs. Oregon Ducks (-9, 82)

Sugar Bowl – January 2

Louisville Cardinals vs. Florida Gators (-14, 47)

Orange Bowl – January 1

Northern Illinois Huskies vs. Florida State Seminoles (-15, 59)

Rose Bowl – January 1

Stanford Cardinal vs. Wisconsin Badgers (+6, 50)

Alabama in a neutral setting was almost the same favorite [-8] over Georgia. Would anyone make Georgia pick or a slight favorite over ND? Don't know if this is oversimplifying but have to believe Georgia would be 4-6 over the Irish, therefore this line is not high enough.

if the total is at 82 for the K state/ Oregon game.... taking the 9 pts with K state seems to be the play. if this game is indeed that high scoring, 9 might be tough to cover. thats my first impression...

Northern Illinois +15. Their coach is gone but I'm sure they want to prove they belong in a BCS bowl. Florida St hasn't played well recently and almost lost to a Georgia tech team that had no business playing in the acc championship game.

Bama should be a 10 point favorite AT LEAST Take K-State and the points. Florida cruises, covers easily. Florida State Covers Take the Over. Wisconsin doesn't belong in a BCS bowl game. I don't know that Stanford is high powered enough to get the OVER?
