It looks like another gambling movie will be coming to theaters in the not too distant future as
Hangover director Todd Phillips prepares for the remake of the 1974 classic
The Gambler.

Phillips
will reportedly begin the project once he completes the third and final installment of the wildly popular
Hangover comedies. Shooting is set to begin in September in Las Vegas for the third
Hangover starring the original cast.
No cast has reportedly been set for the remake of
The Gambler, which originally starred James Caan and has a rating of
86 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The dark tale “centers on a UCLA literature professor with a gambling problem who runs afoul of gangsters.”
In the original, Caan is actually a professor at New York university and his gambling debt to his bookie spins out of control to the tune of $44,000.
The Gambler comes on the heels of
Lay The Favorite, a movie about sports betting starring Bruce Willis set to be released sometime this year.
