The PGA Championship was the final qualifying event for eight Americans to earn their way onto the 2012 USA Ryder Cup squad.
Tiger Woods holds down the No. 1 spot in the Ryder Cup rankings.
Also qualifying for the event beginning Sept. 28 are Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner, Keegan Bradley, Webb Simpson, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar and Phil Mickelson.
Hunter Mahan, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Rickie Fowler and Brandt Snedeker are some of the notables to finish just outside of the top eight and aren’t guaranteed a spot on this year’s team. Davis Love III has a chance to include them or any other American golfer of his choosing when he fills out the team with his four captain’s picks on Sept. 4.
Furyk has played on every Ryder Cup team since 1997 is one of the obvious picks for Love III.
The Americans are listed as -117 favorites over Europe to win the Ryder Cup outright, according to sportsbook.com.
The Europeans, who are the defending Ryder Cup champions, won’t announce their team until the conclusion of the Johnnie Walker Championship on August 26.
