NFL win totals: Sharps hammer Broncos, Bucs under
Sharps aren't buying Peyton Manning's transformational powers.
In the first two hours NFL win totals were available to bet in Las Vegas on Wednesday, sharps placed five max plays on the Broncos under 9.5 and four max plays on the Buccaneers under 6.
Those are $3,000 bets apiece. Offshore book BetOnline, which released its win totals earlier, initially took $250 limit bets but on Thursday raised the max to $1,000.
So the sharps didn't care much that they could go under Denver's win total of 10 offshore. Cantor Gaming's seven sportsbooks in Vegas were the place to get down serious action.
"I would say we are out there alone," said Cantor sportsbook director Mike Colbert, who will raise his limits to $5,000 next month and $10,000 in July. "Anyone can post a number but if you're not taking [sizable] bets it means absolutely nothing."
The five bets Cantor took on Denver's 9.5 win total moved the under from -120 to under -170. Tampa Bay's 6 went from under -120 to under -175.
Sharps also laid two max bets on New Orleans under 10, moving the juice from over -125 to under -125. Offshore, the Saints have fallen from 11 to 10.5 (under -125).
Pros also liked the Chiefs under 8, betting it twice. That total went from over -120 to under -130.
The only team drawing over money? Carolina. Sharps bet the Panthers over 7.5 twice, pushing the juice to -135 on the over. Offshore, Carolina's total remains 8.5 (under -155).
