Super Bowl odds: Packers usurp Pats as favorites

MGM Mirage opened the Patriots as the 5/1 favorite to win Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, but after two months of action, the Packers have replaced New England in the top spot.

Players bet Green Bay from 7/1 to 5/1, while the Patriots are now at 6/1. New England remains the second favorite, ahead of San Francisco (7/1), New Orleans (8/1), Houston (8/1), Baltimore (8/1) and Peyton Manning's Broncos (8/1).

As the Manning speculation heated up, the Broncos plunged from their opening 75/1 number. They're not the only team drawing significant cash. The Redskins, who traded for the No. 2 overall draft pick and the chance to land Heisman winner Robert Griffin III, saw their odds fall from 150/1 to 30/1. They're listed at 12/1 to win the NFC.

On the flip side, the aging Steelers saw their odds rise from 6/1 to 12/1. The Chargers, who lost stud wideout Vincent Jackson among others, went from 12/1 to 20/1.

Did Packers improve their defense? This was the only aspect of their game that was lacking.
