Hot lines: Wednesday's best MLB bet

Los Angeles Angels at Minnesota Twins (+145, 7.5)

The Twins are trying to stay calm, even though this season hasn’t started the way they had hoped.

Manager Ron Gardenhire insisted that his team’s offense was going to be better this year, now that some of his big sluggers were healthy again. However, that hasn’t happened yet. Minnesota has scored just six runs this season.

"You don't ever want to start 0-4 and put yourself in a big hole, so it's frustrating," Gardenhire told the Twins' official website. "We need to win a ballgame. But it's not the end of the world right now. We can go on a five- or six-game winning streak and we're back above .500. The game can turn quickly."

Carl Pavano climbs the hill looking to snap the skid after suffering a 4-2 loss to Baltimore in Minnesota’s season opener. Pavano gave up four runs over seven innings, striking out one.

He’ll have his work cut out for him against Jered Weaver, who threw eight shutout innings and struck out 10 in his first outing of the season.

Pick: Under

San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies (+115, 8.5)

Tim Lincecum is looking to bounce back from a tough start to begin the season.

He hit the showers in the sixth inning after giving up five earned runs in San Francisco’s 5-4 loss to Arizona.

"On opening day, that's tough to take," Lincecum told reporters. "I misplaced a couple of pitches, and that was it. Giving up three runs in the first inning is not the way to start off the season."

Maybe he’ll pick up where Barry Zito left off. The veteran lefty chucked a complete-game shutout, striking out four while giving up four hits in San Francisco’s 7-0 win over Colorado Monday.

San Francisco has scored at least four runs in each of its games this season, while the Rockies are really struggling to push runs across.

Pick: Giants

Anyone else liking the D-Backs at +$ today against a crappy Padres team ??? Arizona has won 11 of its last 15 games against the Padres..........................................After starting last season 15-22, the Diamondbacks are 83-46 (.643) in their last 129 regular-season games.................................................Saunders is 5-3 lifetime against the Padres with a 3.00 ERA in eight starts, and he was especially tough on San Diego last season when he was 3-1 with a 1.47 ERA. Since 2008, Saunders is tied for fourth among major league left-handers with 54 wins. He set a career-high with 212 innings and tied his personal best with 33 starts last season.......................................................Luebke, who allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Dodgers last Friday, is 0-3 with a 5.50 ERA in five games - three starts - against Arizona. Upton is 5-for-10 with three home runs against............................................................Upton may not want to miss a chance to hit against Luebke as he's 5 for 10 with three solo homers lifetime.............................................To me the wrong team is favored in this on,or at least the game should be a pick'em not ARZ +113......Thoughts?

I think it is just because Az normally doesn't have a good start and so the books are thinking that they can't keep winning. Just my thoughts

Tuesday had some close calls and it took a few extra inning wins but overall it ended up being my best day on the bases so far this season going 8-2 for +5.5 units which puts me at 23-13 +8.3 UNITS YTD. For the early games this afternoon I'm starting with...............................................MLB:(1)TO ML +104 (2)STL ML +120 (3)WASH/NYM U 6.5 -115 (4)DET ML to LAA ML +150.....................................I was also looking at Masterson and the Injuns after watching how well he pitched against the JAYS but I couldn't find a line on it last night and missed it this morning.

DDH420 - I like to do a lot with statistics so one thing that I have been watching is what happens after a team gets shut out. What I have found is that when a team gets shut out the next time it plays it wins. This has been the case in all games, but one this year and had somethings like 200 and something to 10 (or so) last year. Hope this helps. Yesterday was KC which is up 3 - 0 in the bottom of the 7th and Col which plays tomorrow.

Definitely worth tracking man thats sounds nice. I haven't looked over that game yet so I can't say whether I'm betting it or not but if they win I think I may jump on the wagon sooner than later.

How about this for a parley that paid. Keep in mind that I don't go very large on my bets. It was still nice to see it pay off. The parley was Atl + St L + NYY + Tex + Det I think if I figured out the odds right it was 1500 to one. A couple of those were very close games. Mainly Tex and NYY. DDH420 is that how you would say that? It paid 15 times the investment. I tend to look at my bets in much the same way that I look at my stocks. I just wish I could make as much money in betting as I make in the market.

I had your same teams... ATL,STL,NYY,TEX but did not have DET... however I did also have MILW and LAD on it... so it was a 6 teamer and it paid me 20.22x my wager. A much needed win for me after the last few days. I had not hit a parlay in 4 days. Good Luck dmddms... Hey... for tomorrow 04/11/12 make one with earlier games of STL, NYM, MILW, TOR, DET and KC also... it pays 53.6x your wager... follow that up with an evening parlay of Phils, SF,NYY and LAA which pays 7x your wager. Should be an interesting day on Wednesday. Don't buy into that COLORADO thing... SF is gonna smoke em again.

DDH420 - follow up from yesterday. The ball was hit out to the outfield and there was a runner on 1st and 2nd. The outfielder got the ball and the runner on 2nd taged up. The outfielder then through it to third. He should have thrown it to 2nd in order to keep the runner on 1st. The very next play was a double play. The runner on third would have never been able to score.

Thanxx for the synopsis and after reading it I'm glad I didn't see the play or I woulda been choked. If the guy had a shot sure go for it but so many times I see these foolish outfielders wanting to show off their cannon arms and they throw the ball away when putting their ego aside and making the smart baseball play woulda benefited their team far more......rant off lol
