Pick ‘n’ roll: Sunday’s best NBA bets

Denver Nuggets at Orlando Magic (-5.5, 201.5)

The Magic will be looking to bounce back from a 100-98 homes loss to Dallas on Friday in which it blew a late lead and turned the ball over 16 times, including 12 times in the second half.

“You turn the ball over 12 times in the second half, and almost all of ’em go for baskets the other way, and that’s what got ’em back in the game,” Orlando head coach Stan Van Gundy stewed afterward. “That’s where the problem is. We keep doing it and doing it and doing it and doing it, and it’s an area we’re just not getting better in. We’re just not.

“Until we get that under control we have no chance to beat good teams on a consistent basis.”

The Magic, which lost by 22 points at New York on Wednesday and coughed up the basketball on 18 occasions, will be going up against another pretty good team in the Nuggets. Denver is an even 5-5 in its last 10 overall (3-7 ATS) and is clinging to one of the last two playoff spots in the Western Conference.

Pick: Nuggets

Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers (-10.5, 197)

The Monta Ellis trade was a move for the future, because the Warriors certainly aren’t going anywhere this season. And the trade, as expected, certainly hasn’t paid any immediate dividends.

Seven-footer Andrew Bogut, acquired from Milwaukee in the deal, is still out with an ankle injury. Stephen Curry, who made Ellis expendable, has a recurring ankle problem and will be sidelined until mid-April. Andris Biedrins (groin) is questionable for Sunday’s contest.

Golden State has not been winning games, but it at least has been competitive. Mark Jackson’s squad is just 2-9 in its last 11 overall but is 9-5 ATS in its last 14. The Warriors are also 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games.

The Lakers have been winning their fair share of contests (9-4 in their last 13 overall), but they have not done so convincingly. They are 0-4 ATS in their last four overall, 0-4 ATS in their last four against the Western Conference, and 0-6 ATS in their last six at home.

L.A. will be playing on back-to-back days after edging lowly New Orleans 88-85 at the Staples Center on Saturday.

Pick
: Warriors

Portland seems like a decent play tonight. Been playing well lately and even without Aldridge almost came away with the W vs. Clippers...no Barrea or Bease tonight for Wolves...It will be Love vs. Crawford tonight. Who has the better other 4 after that? Favorite is 8-2 in this series and Minny has won twice already this year by DD. Hard to beat a team 3x in one season? Some may say but it's Por -2 for me...GL

have a small play on houston. i lean minny here. but you're reasoning is sound. a buddy of mine called the portland-clipper game was the star rule: first game of injury sound teams step up. the question will JJ Hickson score 29 points again. I will give you this Robert! Hickson has looked like a beast playing for his nba life for Portland. I'll be rooting for you and portland tonight. not gonna make a play. still resting. I went large on Boston today. bets like those come around once a month!

I LOVE BOSTON today. A friend of mine asked me why I hate the Heat. Well, he's right I don't like the Heat cause I hated the whole Labron abandoning his city and his legacy. But that's besides the point. When the Heat are clicking, I'm more than happy to bet on them. Boston is number two in the league defensively (points allowed and field goal percentage). They're hot right now(@ Minnesota they win by 21; holding Minny to 79). Garnett is playing his best ball in two years. And at his age you never know when he's going to go down. Naturally it's unsustainable in the long run. But this is today, Sunday, April 1, 2012. It's the perfect spot for a four point dog to win outright. In the first game, Miami came out hot against the Pearceless celtics. And Miami couldn't shake them. Pearce is a tough matchup for Labron-- size on defense and his ability to score on offense. I waited all night to get the +4. Norris Cole finally hit a few shots against the raptors. let's see how he does with the pressure on. Regardless, this should be a GREAT game. glta

Not sure how many people will take you seriously when you refer to them as LaBron and Pearce.
