Covers Contestant loses bid for 100K
John Beard was two correct picks from winning $100,000 in Covers Contests Streak Survivor but his journey ended with Green Bay's 33-27 victory at Minnesota.
The Covers member better known as username jcoby
had the Packers as 10-point favorites looking for his 23rd straight winning bet. He would have taken home $100,000 with 25 consecutive winners.
After winning 25K when the Texas Rangers secured his 21st consecutive victory Thursday night, he extended his incredible hot streak with a correct play on Michigan State +7 against Wisconsin Saturday night. The Spartans won the game outright 37-31.
The $25,000 isn't the first prize the 42-year-old Dublin resident has won playing Streak Survivor. On top of the Covers Gear and $1,000 he earned when his current streak hit 17, he also took home $1,000 for picking the most winners in June.
“I really enjoy the Covers site with the various levels of detail and helpful information it provides to make daily picks,” Beard told Covers.com
via email back in June. “My favorite contest is the Survivor Streak but I also had fun with the Ultimate Race Hawaii.”
During Beard’s incredible streak
, he has selected MLB, NFL, and college football winners, starting with a play on the over 6.5 when the San Diego Padres hosted the Chicago Cubs on September 28 – the final day of the baseball regular season.
Since then, he’s bounced between totals, underdogs and favorites in those three sports, without taking many days in between picks.
