American Idol down to the final four
American Idol’s panel of judges, as well as the legions of fans voting from home, hold your wagers in their hands. The four finalist perform Wednesday night and then the axe will fall on one pop hopeful Thursday.
Scotty McCreery -110
McCreery’s booming voice is a surprise when starring down his nerdy stature. He’s already grabbed the attention of plenty of country recorded labels and will be cracking the country charts soon – regardless if he wins American Idol or not.
James Durbin +180
Durbin is the male rocker among the finalist and hopes to follow in the footsteps of Idol alum Chris Daughtry and not the long list of winners who have faded into obscurity.
Lauren Alaina +650
It looks like the guys are running a two-horse race for the American Idol crown, but don’t count out the ladies. There is plenty of value in Alaina, who is hoping to parlay her Idol success into a country career a la Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler. Maybe she'll end up dating an NHL player too!
Haley Reinhart +650
Reinhart is the dark horse of the bunch and plenty of critics don’t see a career for her once she gets the boot, well, unless she pulls off the upset and wins. But even her home town is prepping for her return. If anything, Reinhart has the edge over her competitors in the looks department. And in today’s music industry that can go a long way.

Ben Burns just doesn't want August to end! With ANOTHER sweep last night (went 3-0!), he is not just a WHITE HOT 19-4 the last 8 days, but also an INSANE 48-14 this month! This almost UNPRECEDENTED run continues Thursday with a 10* Total in NFLX + 2 more winnners in MLB! Ben's All Sport Run has now exceeded $80k! Get on board!
I'm playing CLEVELAND. The Indians go for the sweep of Minnesota this afternoon and they couldn't have asked for a better pitcher to help them pull it off. Right now, Corey Kluber is on the streak of a lifetime. I used him in his most recent start as he went 7.2 innings and gave up just one run on five hits. He struck out 10. Though Kluber did not factor into the decision, what's important is he gave his team a chance to win and they did, 2-1 over Baltimore.
I'll put Kluber's last five starts up against any stretch any pitcher has had all season. During this time, he has allowed just three runs (one of them unearned) in 39 innings, twice going the distance. The most hits he's allowed in any of those games was six. He also has a 45-5 KW ratio. Unbeaten over his last eight outings, opponents are batting just .161 against Kluber in his last six starts. He has a 1.19 ERA his last 10.
Somehow, despite being division rivals and playing Cleveland 12 times, Minnesota has avoided Kluber this season. So they may be unprepared for what they're in for.
Like Kluber, Twins starter Phil Hughes has pitched well lately. The difference is that Hughes' numbers fall well short of Kluber's over the long-term. Hughes has struggled somewhat at Target Field this season (4.76 ERA in 12 starts). Seeing as Cleveland has won five of six and Minnesota has lost five of six, it's easy to side with the better pitcher and the hotter team. 1* free play.
