Kevin Durant not expected to play vs. Celtics

The Oklahoma City Thunder will likely be down two starters, including All-Star Kevin Durant, tonight against the Boston Celtics.

Oddsmakers opened with the Celtics as 6.5-point home faves but the line has moved up to 8.5 with word of Durant’s likely absence.

The Thunder are already missing third-leading scorer Jeff Green from their lineup. The versatile forward has been bothered by a sore ankle and has missed five of Oklahoma City’s last six games.

Durant injured his ankle Wednesday night in the first half in a game against the Rockets. He continued to play but afterward it was apparent the ailment was more serious than he thought.

“After the game, I think it got worse,” Durant told “Maybe I should have come out in the first quarter. But I just wanted to help my team win. And I felt if I was on the floor I was helping my team.”

Durant is averaging 28 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season. He played in all 82 games last season but the Thunder went 5-3-1 against the spread without Durant in the lineup in the 2008-09 campaign.
