Cowboys Pro Bowl tight end questionable
Jason Witten, quarterback Tony Romo’s favorite target, will be a game-time decision on Thursday when the Dallas Cowboys host the Oakland Raiders.
“We’re a little bit worried about him being able to play,” head coach Wade Phillips told ESPN of his star tight end.
Dallas is a 13.5-point favorite with the total set at 40.5.
Warriors bring tired legs into San Antonio
The Golden State Warriors used just six players in their 111-103 on the road against the Dallas Mavericks last night. They became the third team since the 1976-77 NBA-ABA merger to play with six players, according to the Oakland Tribune.
Monta Ellis, Anthony Morrow and Vladimir Radmanovic all played the entire 48 minutes, the first time a trio has done that since 1964.
The Warriors are 6-0 against the spread over their last six games but the missing bodies are starting to pile up. G-State didn’t have Corey Maggette on Tuesday because of a sore back adding to a list of wounded that includes, Ronny Turiaf, Kelenna Azubuike, Raja Bell, Andris Biedrins and Brandan Wright.
Oddsmakers haven’t released a line yet for tonight’s game against San Antonio as of Wednesday morning.
Remember me
Despite never facing each other, the Arizona State Sun Devils know their foe all too well when they face the Duke Blue Devils in the NIT Season Tip-Off semifinals at Madison Square Garden Wednesday.
Arizona State coach Herb Sendek battled the Blue Devils for 10 years while coaching at North Carolina State in the ACC and starting center Eric Boateng was a member of the 2005-06 Duke squad before transferring to ASU.
The 6-foot-10 senior played sparingly under Mike Krzyzewsk as a freshman, forcing him to transfer to the Pac-10. This season, he leads the Sun Devils in rebounding, steals, blocks and is averaging over 11 points per game.
The Sun Devils have never faced Duke before. Both teams are off to 4-0 starts. The Blue Devils have gone 2-1 ATS while ASU is 1-2 ATS in lined games.
Turkey A&M
Texas A&M and Texas will play on Thanksgiving for the first time since 1993.
The last time these Big 12 rivals faced each other on the holiday, the Aggies took an 18-9 win at home in the Lone Star Showdown. Texas A&M has lost seven of the last 10 in this series including last season’s 49-9 blowout in Austin. The Aggies have covered in five of those 10 games.
“Certainly to be on a national stage, particularly this year when we've been a little bit limited in that area, is huge for us," coach Mike Sherman told the Houston Chronicle. "It'll show what A&M is all about. The A&M family will be on national television with no other (football) on. It really puts us in a spotlight — a spotlight A&M deserves to be in, and this game deserves to be in. It's two great universities right here in the state of Texas battling it out."
The Aggies have won two of the last three against the Longhorns. Oddsmakers have set them as 21-point home favorites for Thursday’s contest.
Gustavsson gets the nod
The Toronto Maple Leafs are forced to start struggling goaltender Jonas Gustavsson against the Tampa Bay Lightning Wednesday. With starter Vesa Toskala nursing a groin injury, the rookie will don the pads in his place.
"It's a long season. Lots of games. I think it's going to be a little bit back and forth all the time," Gustavsson told the Toronto Star..
"There's good goalies here. I'm just going to work hard and when I get the chance, I'm going to try to make saves."
Gustavsson has lost four straight appearances, allowing 13 goals on 86 shots in that span. The final has also played over the total in each of those four games. On the year, Gustavsson owns a 3-4-5 record with a 3.18 GAA
Toronto is a +123 underdog in Tampa Bay while the total is set at 6 goals.
