It’s that time of year again gang. The hardwood season tips off tonight meaning we’ll get to see some real hoop action. To help fuel the excitement we’re throwing out of favorite future plays.

Check out our picks and tell us what you think.

Rookie of the Year:

Jon Campbell, Senior Editor: DeJuan Blair (+1300) San Antonio Spurs

He was a beast for Pitt and underestimated as a second rounder. Could be just the complement to Duncan the Spurs have been looking for.

Jason Logan, Associate Editor: James Harden (+700) Oklahoma City Thunder

Harden was ready for the pros since his freshman year at Arizona State.

Ashton Grewal, Associate Editor: Tyreke Evans (+575) Sacramento Kings

Evans has the talent, strength and size to be a superstar in the Association. He also has no competition behind him and will rack up stats on a bad team.

Most Valuable Player:

Grewal: Dwyane Wade (+500) Miami Heat

I wrote a blog here about why I think Wade will win this year. Kobe and LeBron got theirs. Now it’s Wade’s turn.

Logan: Kevin Durant (+2800) Oklahoma City

Durant will lead the league in scoring and carry the Thunder into the playoffs.

Campbell: LeBron James (+200) Cleveland Cavaliers

Yeah, I know he’s the favorite. Sue me.

NBA Champions

Logan: Los Angeles Lakers (+225)

The defending champs have the best frontcourt in the NBA as well as the best player.

Campbell: Boston Celtics (+300)

No KG for the second half of last season and these guys still won 62 games. With Garnett healthy again, watch out for the Celts.

Grewal: Celtics (+300)

I’m on the Green Guys for the same reason as Mr. Campbell. Don't forget that this is the same team that spanked the Lakers in the Finals and was the best team in the league last season until KG went down.

Favorite season win total play

Grewal: Memphis Grizzlies under 27.5 wins

You know winning isn’t the team goal if you bring in Allen Iverson. Just ask Joe Dumars. It should be fun watching Iverson, O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay fight over shots.

Campbell: Charlotte Bobcats over 35.5 wins

A little more experience under their belts means the Bobcats should be able to put up a few more points this year and get some more wins.

Logan: Oklahoma City Thunder over 34.5 wins

Big things in the OKC this season.

Are we way off with our picks? Tell us your favorite NBA futures play.

Over the last 20 years, there have been 22 rookies of the year (2 years had ties).

10 of them were #1 overall picks

4 #2

2 #3

1 #4

2 #5

1 #6

1 #7

1 #9

There has never been a pick higher than #9 make it to Rookie of the Year and there is only a 23% chance it won't be one of the top 3 picked. Yet you are willing to accept 13-1 odds that a #37 pick will be chosen ROY. I know that this is labeled "Predicitions sure to go wrong", but this is ridiculous. I might possibly somewhat consider this bet if it was +130000. Even then it would probably be a stretch.

Wins are gonna hold D-Wade from getting the MVP... He needs his team to win atleast 50 games... I don't recall the last time someone won MVP with less than 50 wins....
