Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini has an unseemly quarterback controversy on his hands.
Usually, a coach is torn between two signal-callers that can get the job done. The winless Browns have a pair of quarterbacks that have been awful in Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson.
Quinn won the job in preseason and lasted 2 1-2 games. He was yanked at halftime of Sunday's 34-3 loss at Baltimore, going 6-of-8 for 34 yards and an interception. In 10 quarters, he directed the Browns to one touchdown.
Anderson, a former Pro Bowler, started the second half and was 11-of-19 for 92 yards and three interceptions, two of which set up TDs for Baltimore.
The Browns are 0-3 straight up and against the spread this season, having been outscored 95-29. Going back to last season, Cleveland has lost nine straight games (0-8-1 ATS), managing just 57 points.
Moreover, ESPN.com is reporting that five unidentified Browns are filing grievances with the NFL Players Association to protest fines levied by Mangini, who is in his first year as Browns coach.
The Browns host the Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday. Cleveland is 5-1 to win the AFC North and has a win total of 6.5.
