Chicago Bears middle line backer Brian Urlacher told the Chicago Tribune in a text message that his season is over.
The former defensive player of the year hurt his wrist sometime during the first quarter of last night’s game against the Packers. He did not return to the field in the second half.
He was scheduled to have an MRI on Monday but it appears X-rays at the stadium showed the damage. It’s believed there is a dislocated bone in his wrist along with additional damage to the forearm.
The six-time Pro Bowler is a key component to the Bears’ Tamp 2 defense. Having played safety in college, Urlacher is effective dropping back into coverage or attacking the line of scrimmage.
The Bears are 3-point dogs hosting the Steelers next weekend. Before Sunday’s loss to Green Bay, books were listing the Bears at +1800 to win the Super Bowl and +800 to win the NFC.
