The Falcons, the biggest surprise in the league last year behind quarterback Matt Ryan, are much better early on, going 9-2 ATS in their past 11 openers.

Kansas City Chiefs at Baltimore Ravens (-13, 36)

The Vikings, who just named quarterback Brett Favre a team captain, are 5-2 ATS in their past five Week 1 games, but an awful 1-4 ATS in their past five September tilts.

The Browns, who will start Brady Quinn under center, are 0-4 ATS in their past four Week 1 games and a miserable 0-4-1 ATS in their past five home games overall.

New York Jets at Houston Texans (-4.5, 44.5)

The Jets, led by rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez and first-year coach Rex Ryan, are 3-2 ATS in their past five season openers, and 6-1 ATS in their past seven as road dogs.

The Texans, which have explosive playmakers in receiver Andre Johnson and running back Steve Slaton, are just 1-4 ATS in their past five Week 1 games, but 4-1 ATS in their past five home games overall.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts (-6.5, 44.5)

The Jaguars, who will go with Maurice Jones-Drew as their lead back this season, are 8-2 ATS in their past 10 Week 1 games, but 0-6 ATS in their past six against the AFC overall.

The Colts, in their first year without coach Tony Dungy at the helm and now under the direction of Jim Caldwell, are 4-1-1 ATS in their past six Week 1 clashes, but a terrible 2-5-1 ATS in their past eight as favorites.

Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints (-13.5, 49)

The Lions, who are starting rookie quarterback Matt Stafford, are a surprising 5-1 ATS in their past six season openers, and 6-0 ATS in their past six road games overall.

The Saints, who are without stud offensive tackle Jammal Brown, are 3-2 ATS in their past five openers, but 5-0 ATS in their past five as favorites.

Dallas Cowboys at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+5.5, 39)

The Cowboys, who will rely on receivers Roy Williams and Miles Austin with the departure of Terrell Owens, are 3-2 ATS in their past five Week 1 games, but 5-1 ATS in their past six overall as favorites.

The Buccaneers, starting Byron Leftwich at quarterback, are a meager 1-4 ATS in their past five openers, but a staggering 17-5-1 ATS in their past 23 overall as home dogs.

San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals (-6, 46)

The 49ers, who have said they will feature running back Frank Gore extensively this season, are 3-2 ATS in their past five openers, and 5-2-1 ATS in their past eight overall.

The Cardinals, who will try to avoid the Super Bowl hangover, are 3-2 ATS in their past five Week 1 clashes, and 9-2 ATS as favorites in their past 11 overall.

St. Louis Rams at Seattle Seahawks (-9, 40.5)

The Rams, under the direction of first-year coach Steve Spagnuolo, are 1-7-1 ATS in their past nine Week 1 tilts, and a terrible 6-13 ATS in their past 19 as underdogs.

The Seahawks, who welcome back a healthy Matt Hasselbeck, are just 4-9-1 ATS in their past 14 openers, but 7-2 ATS in their past nine as home favorites.

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers (-4, 46.5)

The Bears, who look to be more explosive on offense behind quarterback Jay Cutler, are just 2-3 ATS in their past five openers and a meager 2-5-1 ATS in their past six as road dogs.
