Detroit Pistons at Chicago Bulls (-5.5, 191)
The Pistons are getting dangerously close to falling into the eighth-seed - a position that would match them against the East-leading Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs.
The Pistons have lost four of their last five and are just 4-6 in their last 10 overall but each of their last four setbacks were by five or fewer points.
“This is four games we’ve given away at the end," Pistons guard Arron Afflalo told reporters. “We’ve got to find a way to pull these out.”
The only problem is that the Pistons are 2-8 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 overall against Chicago.
The Bulls, meanwhile, are 4-1 in their last five home tilts, including back-to-back wins over the Boston Celtics and New Orleans Hornets.
Chicago is 2.5 games back of the Pistons for the seventh-seed and is 6-0 ATS in its last six against Detroit.
Pick: Bulls
Houston Rockets at Utah Jazz (-5, 193)
Houston has been playing well recently but winning in Salt Lake is no walk in the park.
The Rockets have won eight of their last 10 overall but are 5-5 against the spread (ATS) in that period.
Utah, meanwhile, has won 11 consecutive home tilts and is coming off an away win Friday over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Point guard Deron Williams led the Utah with 24 points and 11 assists Friday. Five other Jazz players also scored in double-digits.
“I just felt like I needed to get it going a little bit,” Williams told reporters Friday.
Williams should have another big scoring night when he matches up against Rockets second-year point guard Aaron Brooks.
Brooks, who has started just 25 career games as a professional, is putting up 11 points and three assists a night.
Utah is 4-1 ATS in its last five at home against a club with a winning road record.
