Just LEGALIZE it in the US, TAX the crap out of it, and EVERYONE wins. I wish our country would REALIZE how much money is going out of this country because we don't leaglize it. Thank goodness for OFFSHORE sports books!

Good Luck TO ALL!

$30 million. Makes it seem like that's a lot of $$$. But it doesnt explain how they got that figure. If it is bets, for a year, that is about $600K a week. The profit these guys can expect to make is about $1.5 million, that is if everyone pays, and we know that isn't going to happen.

I, for one, don't want to see it legalized everywhere because I work in a legal book in NV. I can see it MAYBE being legalized in Atlantic City, where the other "real" gambling city is...but the boys of Italian decent might have something to say about that. Believe me, it is not quite as profitable as you might think. I think we are just finally getting in the black from last year's Superbowl (sorry NFL...hope I can say that without penalty).

And this is the primary reason why I moved to Vegas. I can see it legalized in NJ, MS, & LA as those places have the larger existing casinos that are under the same corporations as these here.

The issue is the lobbyists. They press to keep it illegal in all places except Nevada to keep the bettors coming. Although the casinos don't make a killing on the sportsbooks, it does provide a mechanism to bring people in to bet, drink, and possibly sit down at the tables, which is where they make their profits. The ultimate goal of the casino is simply to get you in the door. The spending will take place.

the casino sportsbooks probably do a little better than 50/50 because lets face it the odds are 50/50 of one side or the other winning.....they are happy with the vig they get to turn a bit of a profit in the long run...the Italian mafia made las vegas and they still are very powerful.....but bookmaking is almost always associated with the criminal world...still legalizing betting across the country is the way to go but the Italians would not be happy...nevertheless they make more money with all their other pathetic operations like prostitution, drugs, and money laundering crap...

Little insite on books take. Casinos have more of a split on games than locals. I think I saw somewhere casinos look for a 5% take. Locals rarely are split on games. They are usually one sided so their take is much greater.

I would like to see them legalize sports gambling in all casinos, especially the two in Connecticut.

They'll probably legalize weed in this country before Sports gambling. I was in Europe last yr and it's amazing how they're sooo far ahead of us (and we think we're so perfect). They have mini casinos and strictly sports books on every other corner (Literally) and the country gets they're cut, they're all privately owned and everyone's happy. I went in and placed a bet on the Yankees in one of these small establishments while all were striclty interested in placing wagers on football (yes I mean their kind of football not ours). The moral of the story is in a foreign land I can still bet on my home team and they serve u an espresso like our nice friendly Italian cafes do here. Don't worry one day we'll come to our senses and legalize it and ofcourse our great country will make a big deal of it like it was their idea all along while the rest of the world has leagalized it for over a decade. Ask yourselves one question. Why is it legal only in NV meanwhile every local newspaper in the remaining 49 states have "America's lines" in the sports section? For curiousity only?, recreation? Hmmm.... The good ole USA is the greatest country in the world, but we are notorious for handing u the loaded and gun and then surprised when u pull the trigger.

weed should be legalized!!! enough said there ... but if sportsbooks are legalized everywhere, you will have a lot more problems keeping the game "straight". take a look at what just one "ref" in the NBA did as far as raising questions. too many people want a part of the action if things are legal and then it all becomes a huge mistake. don't you want to see every team have a shot at a championship? I DO! NOT just the ones w/ deep pockets, like the Spankees, etc.
