Pittsburgh at South Florida (-13 ½, 49)
South Florida is trying to show last season's success was no fluke, and the program deserves a spot in the top 10 rankings. The betting public is heavy on South Florida, with the Bulls getting 74 percent of the action.
The game opened at -13 at many other shops, but we figured the people would be on South Florida and we opened it -13 ½ and haven't moved it yet.
I can’t blame the public for not wanting to back Pitt. The Panthers have underachieved all season and still haven't covered a game this year (although some people may have gotten Pitt at pick against Iowa, a game it won 21-20).
I can also understand the support for the Bulls because the wins they've notched have come against much stiffer competition (Kansas and NC State). Pitt's only decent win this season was the Iowa game, and Iowa just got beat at home to Northwestern last week.
The total opened 48 Tuesday, and has since rose all the way to 50. We are very heavy on the over (73 percent are on the over, mainly at 49 and 49 ½).
