Houston Rockets at Toronto Raptors (+3 ½, 187 ½)

The Raptors could be without two starters in Sunday’s game against the Rockets.

Toronto’s Chris Bosh has missed five straight games with a groin injury. As a result, the club is just 2-3 both straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) during that stretch. Bosh is averaging more than 18 points and seven rebounds.

Raptors second-year sensation Andrea Bargnani, who has missed the last three outings with a knee injury, is averaging 12 points and four rebounds.

The Rockets covered the spread in their last trip to Canada.

Pick: Rockets

Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers (+3, 188)

Though Miami has lost four straight games outside of South Beach, that streak should end Sunday versus the struggling Clippers.

Los Angeles has lost four straight at Staples Center, including back-to-back setbacks to the Pacers and Bucks.

Clippers veteran guard Sam Cassell will miss his fifth straight contest with a strained calf. Cassell is averaging 13 points and four assists.

Pick: Heat

Charlotte Bobcats at Detroit Pistons (-12, 190)

Charlotte has lost six consecutive road contests, including Monday’s outing against the shorthanded Raptors.

The Bobcats have also lost three of their last four in the Motor City. The Pistons are 5-2 at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

The home team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings between Charlotte and Detroit.

Pick: Pistons

Milwaukee Bucks at Portland Trail Blazers (-3 ½, 192)

The Bucks have struggled on the road, even losing to the lowly Sonics.

Milwaukee is a miserable 2-8 in its first 10 road games, including 1-4 in its last five where it has been outscored by a combined 72 points.

The Bucks could also be without reserve Bobby Simmons, who missed Friday’s loss due to personal matters. Simmons is averaging seven points and two rebounds.

Pick: Blazers

New Jersey Nets at Washington Wizards (-2 ½, 196)

The Nets have covered the spread in each of their last three visits to D.C.

Washington, meanwhile, has lost five of its last eight, including Friday’s setback to Phoenix. The Wizards have also failed to cover the spread in 15 of their last 23 meetings with the Nets.

The road team is also 5-1 ATS in the last six tilts between the Nets and Wizards.

Pick: Nets

Seattle Sonics at New Orleans Hornets (-8, 197 ½)

Seattle has won three of its last four, including Friday’s triumph over the Bucks.

Sonics rookie Kevin Durant, who matched a career-high with 35 points in Friday’s win, also scored 35 points in a Nov. 30 victory over the Pacers.

The Hornets have lost four of their last six in the Big Easy.

Pick: Sonics

Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers (-2, 225)

If anyone can match Golden State’s firepower, it’s Kobe Bryant.

Bryant is averaging 27 points on 46 percent shooting. Los Angeles is also the fifth-highest scoring club in the NBA, averaging nearly 106 points.

The Lakers have covered the spread in four of their last six tilts with the Warriors.

Pick: Lakers

Well not a great saturday. Lost juice on my 2 units bets as i hit boston but lost the over. Lost on butler(what the hell is up with butler the last two games?). Need to hit santa clara to just lose juice on both of those 1 unit plays. So will be down a little over a unit if that hits as i also lost on phx. Like nova and chargers, giants and tbay.

I love the Miami and Portland for tomorow to cover Mia Miami is due for a win and Portland plays well at home and the lowly bucks are horrible on the road. Watch out for Charlotte to cover that +12.

Picking HOUSTON while the line is OFF?!?! That truly shows lack of gambling intelligence... What if the line opens at Houston -16?; would you still take it??? STUPID. Anyone that religously follows the Covers plays should either be broke or jumping off a building somewhere... BEWARE!!

Anyways, Raptors should be able to keep it close if they put the game in their PGs (Calderon and TJ) hands, as these 2 are better than whoever the Houston PGs (aka EX-Raptors James and Alston). RAPTORS +7 or better for me...

GL!

Miami, Houston and Portland cover the spread..........Toronto is way too banged up to play a defensive Houston team on the road.........Do I have to even talk about the Clippers.......why they are 2.5 point dogs makes me laugh.........and if the bucks couldn't beat Durant by himself......why should they come close to beating a Portland team who plays well at home and puts the ball in the basket................GOOOD LUCK

1. Lock of the day: Portland Trail Blazers -3 (U would take against any team that just lost to lowly Sonics).

2. Washington Wizards -2.5 (Unmotivated Jkidd leads a struggling Nets team. Enough said! I would take a motivated team played at home against big name but unmotivated stars).

3. Detroit Pistons -12 (Blown out on the card!, as Pistons play better on weekend and after tough loss).

GL everyone...

Guys,

Take it easy on Covers.. Would you rather have them put up their picks AFTER the lines come out? Then this forum wouldn't be hear early enough in the morning. Also, their picks are based on trends and history, not absolute lines. Take it for what it is and that's that. Just more info.

As someone stated yesterday, before yesterday they were only 2 or 3 games under 500. Not great but not as horrible as a lot of the players that are on here just throwing out picks with no reasoning. At least Covers gives you some info and reasoning behind their pick, like the pick or not.

USCWorld says:

I have to apologize for my picks yesterday. 0-3. I had a lot of good leaners but my initial picks were losers. Let's see if we can get some good info here and let's beat the books....

What you liking today USC? NFL im liking Boys and TB early.

Teasing Boys and Jax seems reasonable too. Not a huge fan of teasers but getting Boys and Jax under 7 to be safe is nice.

I like Min later...

NBA - Haven't looked much yet.. probably will during the 1 PM NFL games.

Richnesssssssss

Took Houston NBA. Even though Bosh coming back I think Yao should dominate. Battier is a good defender and should contain Bosh. Alston is as quick as Ford. I like their chances. It might be kind of an up and down game as well.

Anyone have any thoughts on NCAA

USCWorld says:
12/09/07 01:09PM

Not sure about NFL at this moment.. Still doing some reading.

At glance I do agree with you on TB. Like McCown. He's just like Garcia.

Also do like Jacks.

Just heard Rosenfels starting for Houston! That guy is not good.

icedisciple says:
12/09/07 01:13PM

OK Deckham I'll play against you. First game pick.

Houston -3 1/2

With Bosh out there is no-one to stop Yao. T-Mac has a fine game to cover.

icedisciple says:
12/09/07 01:16PM

Did not know Bosh was playing. Houston still takes the first game by 3 1/2. Does anyone like the Niagra @ Towson or the Iona @ Siena feature games?
