WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue linebacker Jeff Lindsay was charged with public intoxication and suspended indefinitely from the team, the latest arrest of a football player at the school.

The 19-year-old freshman was arrested by campus police Saturday and charged with public intoxication, minor consumption and resisting law enforcement. Lindsay posted $250 bail and was released from Tippecanoe County Jail that afternoon.

Lindsay's arrest came eight days after wide receiver Selwyn Lymon was stabbed in the chest outside a nightclub in West Lafayette. Less than an hour later, safety Torri Williams was arrested on a drunken driving charge. Williams also has been indefinitely suspended.

Sportsbook.com has Purdue listed at +30000 to win the 2008 National Championship.

Purdue coach Joe Tiller said he will let the legal system run its course before determining any further action. He will not comment on Lindsay until there are new developments.

''We're always concerned about the behavior of our team,'' Tiller said. ''So, I hope we'll just mature and get through this cloud and move on to better things.''
