Detroit Tigers vs Oakland A's
Trevor Cahill is 3-2, with a 3.31 ERA and he will try to win his third straight start for Oakland. Cahill's only career start in Detroit was a disaster. As a rookie, he was tagged for seven runs and seven hits in 2 1/3 innings of an 11-7 loss. Ace Justin Verlander is 5-3, with a 3.74 ERA, he will try to beat the A's for the second time this month. The right-hander scattered four hits over 6 2/3 scoreless innings in a 5-1 win at Oakland. Verlander is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in two starts against the A's at home. I like Detroit to get out of this series even by staying hot on offense. PICK-Detroit RL +126 Chicago cubs vs Pittsburgh Pirates Pittsburgh has one of the NL's worst records and is on pace for its 18th straight losing season. Despite these gloomy figures, the Pirates have had no trouble beating the Cubs, Since April 30, Pittsburgh is 5-1 against Chicago, compared to 5-18 against everyone else. The Pirates normally lazy offense has knocked around Cubs pitching, averaging 5.8 runs while batting .276. Wells, 0-3 with a 6.48 ERA in five starts this month, is taking the spot in the rotation of Tom Gorzelanny, who is being moved to the bullpen. The Pirates counter with Ross Ohlendorf (0-3, 5.11 ERA), who was on the mound in Pittsburgh's only loss to the Cubs this season. Ohlendorf pitched well, allowing two runs and four hits in six innings of a 4-3 loss at Wrigley Field, but didn't receive a decision. I like Ohlendorf to have another good start vs the Cubs and pitt to continue there dominance of Chicago. PICK-Pittsburgh +122 N.Y.Yankees vs Cleveland Indians Andy Pettitte is 0-4 with a 6.50 ERA in his last six starts in the Bronx against the Indians, including one postseason game. Pettitte is 6-1, 2.62 ERA and 105-47 in his career at home for New York, but his only home victory over Cleveland came in 1996. The Yankees, have won eight of Pettitte's nine starts this year. Cleveland (which owns the second-worst record in the AL) doesn't figure to pose a major threat. In addition, No. 2 hitter Shin-Soo Choo is in a 0-for-17 slump while Peralta is 1 for 11 in this series. The Yankees will get their first look at rookie Mitch Talbot with a 6-3 record and a 3.73 ERA and is 3-0 with a 1.33 ERA in his last three road starts. Those starts were vs White Sox,Kansas City and Baltimore. It's time the bombers welcome him to the show. Pick -N.Y.Yankees RL -130 |

Noone liked Cards -135 so they went Cubs for +money thinking it is a toss up. I personnlly think it is a toss up and that the Cubs stand just as much of a chance to win it as the Cards. Wells pitched well in his lone start against the Cards, last season and if it were not for him being matched up against Wainwright he might of won. Good Luck either way! But if you want value Cards are probably still the right play.
