Last time they played in 2009 according to Covers.com OSU was a 16.5 point favorite. I think the 2009 OSU team was expected to be quite a bit better than this year's team and yet they were a smaller favorite. They still won 38-0. Something to consider. Seems odd to me they would be bigger favorites this year against a supposedly good Toledo team.

I think he takes Auburn. I thinks he's a chalk eater.

It seems pretty obvious the public is behind Arkansas, but since OSU is still giving up points, that must mean the "sharps" are betting large amounts on OSU. Something to think about if the professional bettors like the Buckeyes.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the stadium is probably going to be heavily pro-Vtech as far as crowd noise is concerned. That could be a factor for Stanford's offense against what is clearly going to be the best defense they have played all year.

Hasn't anyone ever seen a game played in a down pour when the field gets soaked? All either team can do is run the ball straight up the field. So unless the Aztecs are goimg to run fly patterns all night, a flooded field favors Navy. The post about the receivers knowing where they are going and they DBs having to react misses the point. Receivers have to be able plant and make cuts or they are useless on the field. Good luck with that tonight.

This game seems to me to setup like last year's Rose Bowl between OSU & Oregon. A supposedly faster team with a high powered offense that the public thinks the Buckeye's defense won't be able to stop. I think this game plays out just like that one, Buckeyes cover the spread and the game goes under.

to everyone that thinks OSU is overrated, I would point you to their record ATS, which is 8-2. I think that pretty clearly demonstrates that they have been consistently underrated all season.

Good news for anyone who has already taken OSU. Collegefootballnews.com in their weekly fearless picks section for each conference has already taken Wisconsin to not only cover the spread, but also to win outright. They fucking suck at handicapping games. I always read their analysis of each game b/c they give good info as to the strengths of each team and why they could win, but then they usually totally misinterpret that analysis. I always feel good when they lean the opposite of me.

Undefeated Ohio State & Michigan State could mess up BCS picture
in College Football
That could make for an interesting BCS Championship game mess. Since they don't play each other this year what if both go undefeated? Would MSU beat out an undefeated Boise or TCU, or a one-loss Alabama? How big would the groundswell be to prevent an all Big Ten title Game?

For as bad as the Reds have been, don't forget the Phillies haven't scored an earned run since the 3rd inning of Game1.

The over seems to be the obvious pick since Shields has been horrible all year and former closer Wilson probably has a dead arm by now. Which also means the game is probably a 1-0 game with one guy throwing a perfect game and the other losing a no-hitter when a run scores on an error.

Purely from a fan perspective, hopefully the Reds bounce back in Game Two like they have from adversity all year. This team had a short memory this year when adversity struck. Like getting shutout 12 times but still leading the league in runs scored. Getting swept by the Cardinals in early August to fall out of first place but then immediately beating Josh Johnson the next game and winning 8 of 9 games to seize 1st back and never look back. A couple of 5 game losing streaks and two blown 6 run 9th inning leads, a whole bunch of crap that would have killed most teams. Plus this team has finally ended Oswalt's dominance of the Reds by beating him twice this year, including one win where they pummeled him.

They would do a somewhat complicated 3 team playoff. The teams are ranked acording to head to head records. The team with the best record basically decides if they want to play two home games or one road game to make the playoffs.

Everyone who is backing the Lakers is harping on the fact that Perkins is out and not metioning that it is pretty well offset by the fact that Bynum is playing on one leg. Bynum may not be able to play much more than 10 minutes tonight. Furthermore, if his knee is really hurting him badly and he tries to gut it out, he may actually do the Lakers more harm than good.

Listening to Colin Cowherd's show last week he was talking to a columnist from a Michigan newspaper about the Wolverines. The columnist pointed out that the somewhat smaller, faster guys that Rich Rod recruits both on offense for the spread and on defense for the style of D he likes to play seem to wear down against the bigger smash mouth kids the other Big Ten teams are still recruiting.
That was the columnist's explanation for why Michigan seems to have great first halfs, but then wear down in the 2nd half and get blown out, which was what this guy was predicting would happen for Michigan against Wisconsin. Anyway, that seems to me to be the likely scenario against OSU. Michigan may stay competitive in the 1st half, but they wear out and get clobbered in the 2nd half. Also, don't think OSU is going to have a letdown just because they are in the Rose Bowl already, besides it being their bigget rival, they still have to win this game to win the Big Ten outright. |

As an OSU fan, kinda wish they were playing a team with a more traditional offense to warm-up for the USC game. Not sure how much good its going to do their defense to play a team running the option.
