I'd be very careful about playing that over. 30 MPH sustained wind for gametime. That will kill deep passing and kicking games. good luck.

Because Maryland is undervalued. I thought I said that.

I think Maryland is undervalued because they haven't played anyone yet, but this is a much better team than they were last year. Last season's MD squad may have been the most decimated team by injuries in the nation. They had a stretch of a few games that they were starting a fullback at QB.
UConn has already lost to Towson at home (by 15) and couldn't even generate 300 yards of "O". U Conn will be lucky to get into the teens in this game. This line will go up - grab MD while its still at one score.

... on both of the faves tonight.. South FL - 2.5 4u (-118, Her) Houston -14.5 4u (-108, Her) Looking for BJ Daniels to have a big game.. USF is one of the strongest teams in the nation that no one has watched yet this yr. There is a real talent gap between USF and Pitt. UTEP is just plain bad. Houston should score at will, and UTEP will struggle to keep up.. Houston can crack 50 in this one.

First off, there are a couple of teams laying double digits that really shouldn't lay double digits against anyone....ever. I'm looking at you, Duke and San Jose St. If Duke loses to BC by one instead of winning by one, they'd be favored by a field goal or less here. And San Jose St.? Ok, so you showed up to play against Nevada and UCLA, but you still lost both games. At least New Mexico St. has won a game (and against a Big 10 team, Minnesota), and would be 2-1 if not for a fake punt that turned the game around vs. UTEP. I see both double digit dogs covering with real chances to win outright. I'm laying double digit chalk in a few games this week, but I think each is a genuine mismatch. I'm picking on Ole Miss, Marshall, UAB.. these are just bad teams right now - each of whom are coming off of blowout losses to teams that are clearly not as good as the teams they are playing this week - Georgia, Va. Tech and E. Carolina, respectively. Although you have to be concerned with Notre Dame's turnover problems so far this year, their pass O vs the Pitt pass D (#119 in FBS) is a huge mismatch. Pitt would have to win the turnover battle in a big way to hang in this game. I don't see it - Notre Dame walks in this one. I've got what I believe are some live dogs on the card this week. Western Michigan is a tough team with a QB I really like in Carder. They catch Illinois off of a physical game vs AZ St, and with their Big 10 opener on deck. I think they keep it close. Ohio St. looks like a middle of the pack Big 10 team. They completed what, four passes vs. Miami? I'd be a little reluctant about this game being in Columbus, but Toldedo had them on the ropes there 2 wks ago. Colorado is playing much better football under new coach Embree and I'll take the 17. South Carolina consistently plays to the level of their opponent. Vandy has been scrappy this year, and their D can keep them in this one, especially if Spurrier and co. are looking ahead to Auburn. My favorite play on Saturday is Boise at home laying 28 to Tulsa. I normally hate laying those kinds of points, but Tulsa is coming off their 4 in the morning loss to Ok St. and more importantly lost their starting QB in the process. They were already down their best receiver and catching Boise in their first game of the year on the blue turf is a subscription for disaster. Boise rolls.. GL all!

Colorado is one of my favorite plays tomorrow. The loss of Sisson is huge for CSU, and he is only one of a handful of big injuries for a team that doesn't have the depth to lose starters. The Colorado offense looks to be night and day different than that of the last couple of yrs. Tyler Hansen threw for 474 yds. last week against a pretty damn tough Cal D. Add to that the best player you've never heard of - Paul Richardson - is a beast at WR - 284 receiving yds last week and two TD's. CSU just won't be able to hang in this one. I like Colorado by 14+.. GL Mule!

Starting BR $20,000 CFB YTD +1050 NFL YTD +2957 Current BR $24007 / Week 3, 1 unit = $240 Two small plays for Friday night: Boise St. -20 3u (-108, Her) Iowa St. +4 3u (SB)
I admit it. I look for reasons to bet on Boise. This team has made me alot of $ in the last decade. Part of the reason is that they win the games they are supposed to win. This is a legit nat'l title contender. Toledo is a solid football team that has a great chance to win the MAC. I see them playing with a ton of emotion in the first quarter and could hang tight for a half. In the end though, Boise just has too much on both sides of the ball, and they pull away in the end. "Starter Johnny McEntee went 10-for-27 for 99 yards, and one of his three interceptions was returned 50 yards for a Vanderbilt defensive score."... ok, now that is a serious problem. Iowa St. has a solid JUCO transfer at qb who put up over 300 yds and 4 tds in their win against Iowa. Should be a close game.. getting 4 feels like a good deal. Back with Saturdays plays later..
GL all!

Hey Camby - Good post buddy.. This is an important day, and we should all be thinking of all of those who lost their lives and especially those who walked into the path of danger and never wavered. Don't let the ignorance of a vocal minortiy get to you. They'll never understand what a great country this is and they'll never fully comprehend what a powerful thing the first amendment is that allows them to spew their hateful and foolish drivel. |

* Random thoughts... I think that linesmakers have overreacted to the new kickoff rule. Some of the totals today seem to be short. I like Detroit to put points up today against the Bucs. Sure, Stafford gets knocked for being injury prone, but he is healthy now and was lights out in the preseason. Best and Calvin J. are healthy now too and I'd be really surprised if any NFL team could hold this group under 20 points. I see Ryan Fitzpatrick as being one of the most underrated players in the league. I think this game will be very competitive, and whether its Cassell or Palko, KC should get their points against the Bills sieve-like D. Jacksonville wasn't a good team anyway, and then they cut their starting qb a week before the opener?! Sure, they're clearing the way for Gabbert, but in the meantime, McNown is not a legit NFL starter. I'll take Hasselbeck with Johnson and a healthy Kenny Britt. This Giants team is incredibly banged up, and not temporarily - the D has been hit hard by season enders. Washington should be able to move the ball against the makeshift defense, and although Eli and co. struggled in the preseason, they should be able to score against a crappy Skins pass D. I see Washington winning this one and pushing over an attainable 40. Seattle and San Fran, both, well.. suck. Tavaris Jackson has spent several years now proving to Minnesotans and handicappers that he is not a legit NFL qb, and now with Rice banged up, the Hawks should really struggle to score. Gore gets a bunch of carries in a slower paced game and I see this one going under 38. GL all! .. now lets go eat a goddam snack!

Random thoughts on today's games.. First, I think today will show everyone that Auburn is this year's 2010 Texas team. They simply lost far too much talent to be competitive in the SEC. Miss. St. is loaded and should handle their business today. East Carolina looks like its back to its old tricks with a wicked offense and a subpar D (although not as bad as last year). They are the pace setters in the games they play, and they make every game a track meet. Linesmakers may have to start putting their totals in the 70's. I'm on more road chalk than I am usually comfortable with, but there just seem to be some really weak sisters hosting some tough programs this week. I don't know how the Duke D presents more than a speedbump for Luck and his weapons on O. Ditto for North Texas getting in Case Keenum's way. I have the Gamecocks playing in the BCS title game and as long as Spurrier quits playing head games with Garcia, they'll cover games like this with short spreads all year. My favorite side of the day is BYU getting 7 against Texas. I don't buy that Texas is back. It took them a long time to assert themselves against Rice and they are playing a ton of true freshmen. That works against Rice - I don't think it does against BYU. I'll take the TD, but the money line is tempting. Lastly, I love the over in the Big House. Notre Dame won't turn it over five times again, and Michigan will get theirs with a ton of returning talent from last year's offense. I do wish they'd get Robinson back in the gun - but he'll still put points on the board consistently. Should be a fun game and could be "over" in the 3rd. GL!! |
