Watch out for ASU. This team has talent and if Boentag(sp) gets healthy they will surprise people, kind of like last years WAZZU. They were a much better team then their record indicated last year and lost many close games. The difference in this team under Sendeck is huge, look for it to show this year.

Oh yeah they are definitly getting these points because of their name. UA is better then last year, partly because the loss of Marcus Williams is more addition by subtraction, same as Shakur(I was an avid Shakur supporter as hard as it was). Olson made a desperate move by firing popular coach Jim Rosborough, and hiring Kevin O'Niel to instil toughness within the team. This could make a difference in the long term future(O'Niel is almost gauranteed Lute's job when he retires), but the Pac10 is so tough there record will not reflect upon it. They lack the interior size and toughness to be serious contenders in a conference that is increasingly becoming more blue collar. Arizona has to adjust to that, and it will take time.
The key to this year is Jawann McLellen, who if healthy and shooting well, adds an extra threat to the offense outside of Bayless and Budinger, However a good year for this team will be matching last years record at best, I don't think fans can expect anymore then that.

NAU has lost a majority of their scoring/rebounds but still look for them to pound UA inside with their huge size advantage. The Lumberjacks return two of the predominant big men in the Big Sky, seniors McCurdy and Landry, both standing at 6'10, and have another F Juco transfer Zarko, who stands at 6'8. The big question mark for UA is who will start at PF alongside Jordan Hill. Most likely it will be Jamelle Horne, a freshman standing at 6'6, who will struggle against NAU experienced inside players in his first start, Tangara who has remained unproven in his career at UA, or Walters, who still is not at full strength after suffering from Mono last year. Either way NAU has a great size advantage, as well as experience, inside, and they should exploit it.
T
here has also been a lot of hype about Bayless, but NAU's PG Josh Wilson, a Junior is one of the best PGs in the Big Sky, and is in the top nationally in assissts, will definitly hold his own. He has also improved his 3pt shot, and will be one of NAU's leading scorers this season.
UA has been less then impressive in its exhibition season, and the LJacks have been known to play tough at McKale, only loosing by 8 two years ago after the score was tied with 4mins left. 20 points for this young UA team is way to much for them to cover, especially in the middle of the Kevin O'Neil identity transition phase. Expect NAU to cover. Kids from smaller conferences live for games like these.
NAU +20

Wisconsin GB -6.5 - Delaware State hasn't shown me any reason not to bet against them.
Gonzaga -26 - This seems like a big line, but Idaho lost everyone from last year. Even without Heytvelt, Gonzaga is stacked. Frosh Austin Daye is a beast down low.
Northern Arizona +20 - Arizona lost 3 starters from last year's mediocre team. I know they have the frosh Bayless coming in, but this team hasn't proven anything yet. Northern Arizona returns everyone.
Washington State -8.5 - The Cougs are obviously awesome. Boise has no guards. They lost Kobe Karl and their new starting guards were a combined 0-for-15 in their first game.
I like NAU in that game as well, but your misinformed about them returning everyone. They lost 3 of their main scorers and rebounding leader last year to graduation. There is only three guys that saw extensive playing time returning last year. They are mostly Freshman or JUCO recruits. However, NAU will have a predominant size advantage on UA in McCurdy and Kyle Landry, both seniors standing about 6'10 and are very good on the boards. UA's weak spot is inside where they have nobody to run along with Hill. Horne will probably get the start, a 6'6 Freshman who, along with Bayless is playing his first game. NAU is also starting Zarko, their JUCO transfer who is from Serbia, standing at 6'8, so look for the Jacks to pound it inside and hurt UA in that aspect.

Any team with athletes who runs the spread offense would spank OhioSt just like FLA did.

With the talent that guy gets he should be in the NC game every year. The struggles he had before and has had after the NC game showed how dependent that team was on Vince Young. He's a good coach/great recruiter, but I could name 15-20 current coaches that I would hire before him. |

Watch out for an upset on Thursday. AZ's spread offense under Dykes is really starting to come in to place and Tuitama looks like the best QB in the conf outside Dixon. This is the biggest game in Tucson in awhile so look for the Cats to come out hot. With how crazy CFB has been this season don't be surprised to see a UA win, much less a cover. Remember Cal was in the same situation last year as Oregon, with BCS hopes on the line, looking ahead to USC and UA upset them.
GO CATS!!!!
