How has everyone not figured out what exactly is going on by now? To those of you who have not put the pieces together yet, allow me to explain the situation, once and for all.
BetEd is gone forever. They will never issue a statement. We will never get our money back. The government does not have all player funds. They might have some, but a large percentage of them are in an overseas bank somewhere. BetEd knew what was coming, thus the heavily promoted and unusual 100% reload bonus rolled out a few days before they were shut down. Lou has no contact with them because they have packed up our money and ran off with it. Covers had no criteria for recommending BetEd as their #1 book other than the fact that BetEd paid them a significant amount of money to advertise on their site and direct traffic towards BetEd. Lou/Freedom received money for every customer they referred to BetEd. The more customers who came to BetEd via Covers, the more money in Lou and Freedom's pockets. This explains Lou's shameless plugs and baseless recommendations. Covers absolutely shares responsibility for a lot of us losing money and should figure out a way for a legitimate book to help offset our loses. I am sure none of us would object, for example, if BetJamaica took on our lost funds and required a 5x rollover. Situations like this have occurred in the past. Covers could and should help expense this. But they won't, because this would take money out of their pockets and they are as immoral as the BetEd owners. Instead, they will continue to provide vague and absolutely useless updates over the coming months while claiming they are fighting to get our money back. Any intelligent person knows this will not happen, and Lou and Freedom's posts are insulting and patronizing. A few months ago I was looking to deposit money on a safe site and make some bets. I saw that Covers had BetEd as their #1 recommended book. Consequently I deposited on there. I had a little over $5000 on the site when it was shut down. I cannot afford to lose $5000 right now. Now was it was my fault for keeping that much money on there with the current landscape? Absolutely. But I also felt I had no reason to worry because BetEd came so strongly recommended by Covers. Even if they did go out of business, I figured I would eventually get paid like I did with Pokerstars and will with Full Tilt (and please, stop comparing BetEd to Full Tilt. Full Tilt maintained communication with their customers and is still in operation overseas. BetEd ran off in the middle of the night and hasn't said a word). Expecting two moderators of a sports gambling forum to convince the United States government to give us our money back is preposterous. Our money is gone, and Covers shares the blame in that. They need to work out a deal with a legitimate sportsbook for those of us who got screwed by their recommendation and they need to do it soon. If they don't, they are just as bad as the BetEd skumbags who ran off with our money. |
