This is a very nice college football article for tomorrow's UCLA at Rice game: College football 2012 season finally kicks off on Thursday. One of the first NCAA games set for Thursday night has UCLA visiting Rice. Let’s take look at the starting era of the Jim Mora Jr. at UCLA. UCLA -15 The Bruins are laying more than two touchdowns at Rice on Thursday. That spread could seem a bit high for college football betting if we take into consideration the Bruins have not been a strong team during the past few years under former coach Rick Neuheisel; however, Mora brings in a new air to UCLA and the Bruins get an easy opener against Rice. Mora has the right attitude as he wants to turn UCLA into a big contender saying, “I want us to be a legit contender in five years.” Redshirt Freshman Leads UCLA Jim Mora Jr. is not a head coach to play it safe as he knows fans are paying to see exciting football games. He has chosen to go with Brett Hundley at quarterback this season. The redshirt freshman will be interesting to watch as he is one of those dual quarterbacks who can run and throw. He will definitely get some help in the backfield from running back Johnathan Franklin who had 976 yards and 5 TDs last season. Rice not Going Anywhere The Owls were 4-8 last season and this can make us think this year will not be different. Rice has been pretty bad under head coach David Bailiff in the past three years going 2-10, 4-8 and 4-8. This will be the sixth year at the helm for Bailiff with Rice and it might be his last. The major issue for Rice is a defense that allowed 33.3 points per game last season. Game Notes UCLA has played Rice four times since 1952 and won all the games. The Bruins has been a bad team to bet on with Rick Neuheisel as head coach. The Bruins are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 road games. The Bruins are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games. The Owls are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games as a home underdog. Looking at the total, the Over is 61-27 in the Owls last 88 games overall. College Football Picks There are almost no possibilities for Rice to win this game. We will take UCLA minus the points and bet over the total. |

New England Patriots vs New York Giants – NFL Predictions The New England Patriots and New York Giants will meet Wednesday night and this game will be televised by NFL Network. As a preseason game we might get to see only a few starters for both teams, however, we don’t know until what part of the game. Bill Belichick Concerns The New England Patriots are not doing well in the preseason and head coach Bill Belichick is not happy about it. The offense has not been consistent and the defense nothing special. Belichick was concerned about how the offense played in the preseason against Tampa Bay. “We didn’t do anything offensively except lose yardage and turn the ball over. It was tough to watch any of what we did offensively,” Belichick said. And the Patriots went with many of their starters for three quarters counting quarterback Tom Brady who threw for only 127 yards. “We’ve got a lot of work to do in being consistent and putting drives together to get the ball into the end zone,” said wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, “We are developing as an offense and we’re trying to integrate as much of the running game and pass catchers as possible, but I think what it is coming down to is that we all need to make plays and be more consistent out there on the football field.” Bet Football at BetOnline.com Game Notes This is the third game for the Patriots since preseason started. Most of the time, the New England starters would see limited action or none but since they have not done a good job lately Belichick could decide to give them some work in this game. If the starters don’t play long then it will be Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer getting a lot of snaps for New England at quarterback. On the Giants side look for backup David Carr to get a good portion of the job. NFL Betting |

# 1 Sports Betting Strategy–Money Management/Bankroll Management When you are betting on sports you should always set aside a certain amount of money, which we refer to as your “bankroll”, in which you can afford to lose. Like with any type of gambling, you never want to bet betting on sports with money you cannot afford to lose. Set aside a certain amount of money that you can use for your bankroll for the week, the month, or the season. A general sports betting strategy for money management is to only make bets with 2%-5% of your bankroll. For example, if your bankroll for the NFL season was $1000 you would be making $20-$50 bets on each NFL game you wanted to bet on. It is also very important that you do not chase your loses with bigger bets. It is common for some sports bettors to be down money and feel in order to win it back they need to increase the size of their bets. This is putting yourself in the wrong mindset and will often lead to you losing even more money. Work with the size of your bankroll, and look to slowly increase it over the length of the season. # 2 Sports Betting Strategy – Bet Sober and Don’t Go on Tilt Although betting while sober seems like common sense, you’d be surprised how many people bet on sports under the influence. Is it a coincidence that the Las Vegas casinos offer free alcoholic drinks while you are gambling? I don’t think so. I don’t want to sound like your mother here, but betting while under the influence will impair your judgment and should definitely be avoided if you want to become a winning sports bettor. The second part of this sports betting strategy says “Don’t Go on Tilt”. Going on tilt or “tilting” is a commonly referred to term with poker players and basically means letting your emotions take over, which often leads to bad decisions. If you are angry or upset at something, such as a couple bad beats with your sports bets, you shouldn’t be placing any more bets. Take a break, go for a walk, get your mind clear before you start making anymore sports betting picks. # 3 Sports Betting Strategy – Do Your Homework This is maybe the most important sports betting strategy. You will always want to do your research before placing your bets. Although going with your hunch when betting your favorite sport may work some of the time, in the long run it will not lead to you winning money betting on sports. In order to profit from sports betting you will need to research, study, and do your homework for each pick you make. Look at stats, find trends, create sports betting systems, analyze past games – basically do everything you could possibly do to ensure you have a good shot at winning your bet before you place your wager. # 4 Sports Betting Strategy – Line Shopping A very big step to becoming a winning sports bettor is to make sure you are shopping for the best lines. What this means is that you will have to have an account at a couple of different online sportsbooks and when you are ready to make a bet on a certain team or outcome you check the different sportsbooks and find which book is offering the best line for you. For example, if you are looking to bet on the New England Patriots on a 7 point spread, you would want to check a couple different sportsbooks to see if any of them are offering the Patriots at 6.5 points, or at the very least find the best price you can get them at 7 points at. Over the course of a sport betting season you can win yourself a lot of money from shopping the lines that would otherwise would not be one. Line shopping is definitely one of the best sports betting strategies used by winning sports bettors. |

The Chicago White Sox visit the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night and Chris Sale looks for his 16th win of the season on this game. Let’s take a look at the matchup and the game pick. Chris Sale The race for the American League Cy Young looks to be for three or four pitchers only, and one of them is Chris Sale. He is 15-4 on the season with a 2.65 ERA. He has been doing great this season even on the last time out against the Yankees when he gave up just three hits in 7 2/3 innings while striking out 13. In his career against the Orioles, he has thrown 5 1/3 innings only and has an ERA of 5.06. Orioles Pitching Baltimore will go with Miguel Gonzalez on Tuesday night. He is 5-3 on the season with a 3.66 ERA. He has gotten a couple of days extra rest, so he should be prepared for a good performance. His last time out wasn’t very good as he allowed eight hits and four runs in just five innings of work. Gonzalez has been better on the road this season than at home as his home ERA is 4.73. Chicago White Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles Notes Prior to this series began, the White Sox and Orioles had split their last ten meetings overall and also split their last ten in Baltimore with three of the last four going over the total. The teams usually play one series in the opposing city every year. Last year the White Sox took three of four in Baltimore. The White Sox have been winning with a good offense that ranks 5th in the league in runs scored. How the Orioles continue to win is uncertain as they are 17th in runs scored and 18th in team ERA. Baseball Predictions We will do a couple of wagers in this Tuesday night’s baseball game. Sale has been money every time he goes to the mound so we will lay the price with Chicago. This game could also be low scoring so we will take under the total at our recommended sportsbooks. |
