UMass:
1. Lost a really good QB for their tier 2. Lost a good looking rookie NFL slot receiver (111 catches at UM) 3. Decent Back (Florida will stop the run) on 140 rush/ypg 4. Defense was bad and only has 3 starters returning 5. I'm pretty sure they allowed 50% 3rd down conversions 6. Only 15% of the offense returns 7. Only 34% of defense returns Florida should steam roll. The key is the ability to RUN and STOP the run. Florida should take a big lead and keep adding because UMASS won't stop the run. UMASS also has a new QB starting in the swamp with a lot of NFL talent. Florida DC/ old Miss St. DC was really good in these games vs. Memphis, etc. |

GA STATE
-coaching staff intact for a team that gelled 2nd H last year -replacing more on offense 45% to BS 78% -defense returning is about even to BS. -team played better as year went on. Playmakers are returning -has to replace a decent QB -lots of depth as they had alot of injuries 2014. Defense is in great shape. BALL ST -new HC with very little college exp. -new DC -not many playmakers -team played worse as the year went on -REPLACING most of OL. 1 starter remains -pretty much the same team as last year learning new systems (Off should be same) Basically, on paper this looks to be the same game that BS lost 31-19 last year. I think it will play out similar. |

I really want to like LSU but man am I scared of that QB on the road. Wisky should be overrun by the talent.
Think Missouri might be worth a shot on the ML? |

One thing about Penn State, they have not covered the spread in the first game of the year as a favorite last four tries. So I'm bucking this trend going with them. Agree! Locking this one in... The Indiana D is always terrible. If you look at Phil Steele over the last few years, FIU seems to play better ATS and straight up at home than they do on the road. Longhorn, I totally agree with where you are going, but I if this were any middling team I would remove it from my leans but FIU is barely a top 100 team. I use F+ alot and based on competition and recruting FIU is maybe 115. IU is up in the 65-70. Anyway, I was looking at Nos's plays and I under computer stats, I have this game listed: bowling green @ OHIO STATE -34 as my own line average line is OHIO ST -27 OHIO ST's talent looks insane and Bowling Green lost A LOT ... A LOT. |

FIU: correction they lost 3 of their all-star DL, and their 2 best defensive backs.
not much talent coming in to fill in for those losses. (they had a ton of injuries and none of the replacements looked great)

IU:
Offense Coach and Offensive system- basically K. Wilson is a good offensive coach, they quietly ranked top 20 in OFF S&P for the 2/3 seasons. New QB, but skill positions are loaded vs an FIU tier team: Redding, Cobbs Jr, R Jones, Paige. 2,000+ yards of receiving back, 1000 yard RB, OL 4 returning with experience Defense has been 90th Ranked but they have a lot of returning starters and they grabbed USF DC Tom Allen. While they are rebuilding their DL, they return all of their starting LB's and DB's - which statistically is a great starting point It's always a gamble but I think the offense will be able to score and the defense 4-2-5 will get just enough stops. FIU: -they also return a decent offense( remember they beat UCF 15-14 ) so it's not like they are a powerhouse. -they lose defensive coordinator -they lose most of their DL too -they lose a lineback and both starting CB's that were their playmakers Basically, I think it will be a similar score to last year. |

Longhorn- do you have your leans yet? I made a killing merging my stuff and your stuff last year.
I only bet on 3-6 games so I'd like to hear your short list as I start my weekly trip to Vegas in three weeks. Yeah, Penn State is my #1 right now. I think a combination of UMASS being really bad, coming to the swamp, and FLORIDA defense will be enough to get the cover their. While their offense is a little unknown, once again it will look good vs. UMASS. Indiana just has a QB friendly offense that should put up points on FIU, while I think the defense just does enough for 10 point win or so. |
